Absolut magisch und eine Begegnung mit warmherzigen Menschen
Pros:

Zwei Wochen verbrachten wir hier an diesem wundervollen Ort und es wurde nie langweilig. Jeden Morgen wurden wir von einem magischen Glitzern des Meeres begrüßt, das sich im Laufe des Tages zu einem türkisblauen Ozean verwandelte. Baden in diesem herrlichen Wasser war nur zu den Flutzeiten möglich, aber auch bei Ebbe haben wir diesen endlosen weißen Strand genießen und auf andere Weise entdecken können. Das Hotel organisiert dazu kostenlos sogenannte Riffwalks und man kann Seesterne und mit Glück sogar Oktopusse im flachen Wasser auf dem Weg zur Sandbank entdecken. Auch Yoga und eine Village-Tour ins umgebene Dorf werden kostenlos angeboten und haben unsere Tage bereichert. Aber wir wollten natürlich auch die Insel erkunden und noch mehr sehen als Matemwe. Das Hotelmanagement unterstützte uns dabei flexibel und professionell bei der Organisation und Planung unserer Ausflüge zum Schnorcheln und Tauchen, nach Stone Town, in den Jozani Forest, zu Gewürzgärten und zum Restaurant „The Rock“. Es blieben absolut keine Wünsche offen. Jeder Tag war auf seine Weise einzigartig und unvergesslich. Wir verliebten uns in diese kleine Oase hier, aber noch mehr in die Menschen, die uns im Vila Kiva betreuten. Selten findet man eine solche Warmherzigkeit. Wir werden durchweg alle vermissen. Vila Kiva war wie ein zweites zu Hause. Wir sind so dankbar, dass wir hier Gäste sein durften 🙏

Best place to stay in Matemwe. By far
Pros:

The staff were the absolute best. Pedro leads a brilliant team and absolutely made our holiday with his attention to detail. Everyone from the cleaning ladies to the brilliant bar team (including my friend from Mwanza who makes a mean Margarita) and the gentlemen and Beatrice (Bite) who waited on us for every meal put a smile on our faces and made us feel so welcome. Asanteni sana, tutaonana tena!

Beautiful, peaceful, hyperrelaxing.
Pros:

The location was beautiful, the breakfast was incredible, the staff were lovely and helpful.

The pools were great for swimming in. Coffee on the deck every morning was beautiful and even though they were at full capacity it never felt like we were on top of people.

The cocktails were great and the barmen great too.

Cons:

Unfortunately the beach is not great for swimming, but you can sit and watch the ocean for hours.
There are locals who can get a bit much, but once we established how to set boundaries with them we were fine.

Excellent place to stay.
Pros:

This hotel is absolutely amazing if you prefer calm and cozy vacation. The beach is white sands and super clear water, the rooms are comfortable and clean, that staff is extra friendly and helpful, the food is great (half board is absolutely worth it), the pools are cozy. Overall, great stay.

Cons:

Honestly nothing.

Je ne recommande pas et j’y retournerai pas
Pros:

- le charme de l’infrastructure (maison typique africaine, beau jardin tropical)
- Le calme
- le guide pour faire les visites dans la mer à pied pour y découvrir la faune marine (Afkan)
- le fait qu’ils donnent à manger aux chats
- la proximité de Mnemba (excursion 45$)
- la réceptionniste est très sympathique .

Cons:

- Le petit déjeuné est très médiocre, les jus de fruit sont pas bon avec un arrière goût, très peu de choix et le comble ils servent du porc dans leur sandwich au petit déjeuné et ne le précisent pas . Pour un pays musulman c’est honteux !!! Aucune excuse ou geste quand on apprend que le sandwich contient du porc !
- on se fait tourner au tours par des abeilles le matin au petit déjeuné IMPOSSIBLE de manger tranquillement et ils ont aucun espace intérieur pour manger Appard une petite table qui paie pas de mine face à un mur . C’est soit ça soit vous devrez combattre des abeilles . C est une honte car ça fait des mois qu’ils ont ce problème et ne font rien pour le régler si ce n’est mettre des bougies qui ne servent à rien .
- les repas sont hors de prix comparé au reste de Zanzibar , même si la nourriture y est bonne (Appard les pizzas qui sont sèche et fades) cela ne justifie pas leurs prix .
- le personnel dans sa grande majorité est d’une antipathie hors pairs, ils sourient jamais , ils sont froids , lents…
- le quartier en dehors de l’hôtel n’est pas du tout sur , ne vous y aventurez pas tout seul . Et il y’a rien autours …
- la plage n’est pas très belle comparé au reste de Zanzibar
- le mobilier est vétuste (matelas de transat troué, portes qui se ferment mal, le coffre fort date de matusalem)
- odeur d’égout dans la salle de bain
- eau chaude environ 3 minutes puis eau tiède le reste du temps !
- Les smoothie et milkshake ont tous un arrière goût vraiment pas bon.
- le service du restaurant laisse à désirer (verres sale (trace de rouge à lèvre) , les cendrier ne sont presque jamais vidé et les tables débarrassée très tardivement)

Cet hôtel ne vaut clairement pas son prix ni même sa bonne note booking , ils ont énormément à faire pour devenir un hôtel avec cette gamme tarifaire . Je ne le recommande pas .

Le personnel est aux petits soins. Extrêmement attentionné. La situation est magique.
Pros:

L’emplacement près de la plage avec au choix la terrasse en prolongement du restaurant, ou sur les côtés les espaces « farniente « 

Cons:

Pas grand chose à reprocher.
Mais attention de bien entretenir le site pour éviter tout signe de vieillissement.

Pros:

We had an amazing stay at Villa Kiva. The room is spacious and very clean with sea view. There are two swimming pool and beautiful terrace. The staff were very kind and made us feel welcome. This is one of the best accomodations we have ever stayed in. 10/10 recommend

Pros:

L’emplacement était tout simplement magnifique, au pied d’une plage immense de sable ultra blanc et fin comme de la farine. L’hôtel est dans le style africain, colonial et il y règne une ambiance sereine , dans le jardin fleuri et très bien entretenu, sous l’œil des chats qui semblent être les princes de la maison.
Notre chambre était très grande, très propre et les sanitaires aussi. Nous avons bénéficié d un surclassement très gentiment .
Toujours une jolie attention de la femme de chambre pour nous surprendre et nous faire plaisir.
Nous avons très bien mangé, et le personnel est très attentif et très souriant. Petit up à la jolie réceptionniste ( Janet ?) et au responsable la communication.
Quant aux vendeurs , il y en a quelques-uns, mais très peu et ils ne sont pas trop insistants .
Nous avons adoré notre séjour !

Pros:

Tout les membres du personnel bienveillant accueillant, et particulièrement Petro le manager. Confort de la chambre, nourriture, situation sur la plage

Cons:

Le fait que la plage soit publique . Parfois on se sent un peu harcelée par les locaux pour acheter des excursions ou des biens .

Pros:

A very peaceful stay — everything was clean and quiet throughout. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, always happy to help. Breakfast was also excellent, with a good variety of dishes to choose from. A nice touch was that every evening they offered to spray insecticide in the room before bed, which we really appreciated.

Cons:

It's not the hotel fault but as soon as we approach the beach, there was always people trying to talk to you to sell you something and this was exhausting. Again it's not hotels fault
