A beautiful hotel with impressive architecture and a very high standard of finish. The Byzantine style and atmosphere are reflected in every detail. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with every comfort. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is extensive and well presented, and the coffee and the bread are excellent. We had unfortunately made a mistake with our booking dates and arrived one day late. However, the staff handled the situation in a very professional and customer-oriented way by moving our reservation by one day at no extra cost. We truly appreciate this gesture. The location is also ideal for visiting Mystras.
Unfortunately, we were not very lucky during our stay, as there was a large group of American guests attending a wedding. They created a considerable amount of noise around the bungalows, the swimming pool and in the restaurant. There is constant too loud music around the pool. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful stay, this may not be the ideal hotel, as it seemed to be more focused on accommodating larger groups. The lifeguard did not fulfil his role as expected, as he spent a considerable amount of time in the bar with someone rather than supervising and carrying out his responsibilities.
One point that made us uncomfortable was the large number of cameras in and around the hotel, including cameras apparently directed towards guests at the swimming pool. We did not see any clear information about the CCTV surveillance or how the recorded images are used, which made us wonder whether this is fully in line with the applicable privacy regulations.
The entire hotel should consider becoming smoke-free. Smoking around the swimming pool and on the terraces of the rooms can be disturbing for other guests. Given the increasing risk of wildfires in Greece, it would also seem sensible to reconsider the current smoking policy.
A large, internationally oriented hotel should make a much greater effort to reduce single-use plastics. This includes plastic water bottles, plastic straws, disposable drinking cups, and small single-use toiletry containers in the bathroom …. . These practices are simply no longer in keeping with modern standards. A sustainable and forward-thinking hotel should lead by example and choose more environmentally friendly alternatives.
We also wondered whether it was really necessary to display instructions in Russian, for example at the breakfast area. Given the current situation in Europe, this felt somewhat surprising to us.
