Convenient location to avoid returning to Salta when driving from Cachi to Cafayate Clean, good restaurant. Small pool. Free parking. Quiet. Pleasant staff.

Pros:

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant produced a very nice meal.

Cons:

Unfortunately they are right on a crossroads - handy if you are going to Cafayate or Cachi - so there is a lot of traffic noise and when we were there dogs barked from a short distance away literally all night - nothing the hotel can do about that.

OK coffee & tostados
Pros:

Cafeteria & Hostel Portal de Los Valles is located in the centre of El Carril and is popular with locals. The cafeteria offers coffee & soft-drinks, sandwiches & tostados, and lunch & dinner dishes. You can have your coffee inside or at the street-side. A clean atmosphere and OK service define its character. Don’t expect much English. Good Wi-Fi.

We went for coffee and cheese & tomato tostados. The coffee was good and the toast appeared to be ham & tomato tostado. When we requested cheese & tomato the kitchen quickly added a slice of cheese and that was it. We had to go for a ham, cheese & tomato tostado. Fortunately we aren’t vegetarian.

Cafeteria Portal de Los Valles is fine for anyone who seeks an OK coffee.

Pros:

Knowing that I was not supposed to spend the night here and had to find “something” easy, comfortable, and no big hassle. Everything all good. Do not expect 5* though. You pay what you get. Overall, good for me on my way to Cafayete.

Cons:

The comfort of the bed! Woke up with my back in two pieces
