Pros:

The staff were so friendly. The owner speaks some English and was so kind to us, giving us, as a couple, an upgrade to a quiet, spacious quadruple room in the newer building, a2ay from the big tour groups. She also gave us a lift one day to the Shizao bus stop to speed up our travel time to Alishan Forest Park. The guesthouse had a good shower with hot water between 5pm and 10am. The fan and dehumidifier in the room were also invaluable, as the cute town of Fenqihu is very misty a lot of the time. There were a couple of English language TV channels. The fresh water dispenser in the main building was handy. The mattress was comfortable. We loved the walks around the town. Great signs and maps, lovely boardwalks and forest areas. The tea plantation walk around Shizao, starting with the Mist Trail, was also fabulous. We preferred Fenqihu to Alishan.

Cons:

The guesthouse room we had, had no chairs, just a couple of stools. The room is quite old, but very clean.

Pros:

The reception staff were very nice. Very helpful. The hotel is in a very good location next to the old street and closeby to the station, like less than 5min. There is only hot water between 5 pm to 10 am but it didn't effect us since we did the whole day hiking.

Cons:

We were quite disappointed with the sunrise tour offered by the hotel. Beforehand, we specifically asked whether the sunrise viewpoint was the same place where you can see the famous sea of clouds, and the lady told us it was. We also asked whether we would have to pay extra for our backpacks, and she mentioned something about an additional $60, which turned out to be incorrect.
The driver picked us up and took us to Alishan Station, where we had to catch the 5:10 a.m. train. We were expected to be there around 4:50 a.m., but we hadn't been informed that we would have so little time to buy tickets. The station was extremely crowded, making the whole process unnecessarily stressful. We also think the arrangements could have been better planned, rather than leaving everything until the last minute.
Overall, the communication was misleading, the organization could have been much better, and we felt the tour was overpriced for what was essentially just a ride to the station. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the money.

Pros:

Damen i receptionen var mycket hjälpsam och förklarade allt som hade med bussar, de lokala vandringarna, resturanger och tågtider att göra. Vi blev uppgraderade till ett större rum utan extra kostnad vilket var super snällt.

Cons:

Det var ganska fuktigt inne i rummet men med tanken på hur högt upp i bergen det är kanske det är en naturlig förklaring.
