Everything was topnotch from food to service. Do come here if you are visiting Kurseong.
Tasteful historical building, wonderful location.
Quite kind, friendly and very helpful staff.
Restaurant and foods. Try local dinner menu. Variety of choice in the breakfast buffet.
Pleasant walk around the area.
Need a car, local jeep or a long walk (but walking distance) to reach Kurseong town, only in case you want.
Beautiful heritage property, nicely maintained. Charming colonial wooden structure.
The staff is truly exceptional. Mr Suraj Subba, the Food and beverages manager suggested the best meals according to my preferences, even going so far as to personally preparing delicious dishes off the menu.
Overall the food was really good, from the Santosh Rai chicken curry to the thukpas, or the complimentary breakfasts.
Mr Ravindra, the manager was helpful and friendly. So were the receptionists and all the staff honestly. When i requested them to change my room, to one with a better view of Kanchenjunga, they happily obliged.
Highly recommended for a quiet, peaceful stay, away from all the noise.
The Wifi is a little janky in some of the rooms.
Also, not the deluxe rooms are made the same. Only the ones on the upper floor offer a nice view. The lower floors, though they have a nice outside sitting area, aren't great for views.
Cochrane Place is set upon a ridge with stunning views over both sides. The property is a little dark, given the wooden panelling everywhere and paucity of lighting. However this just adds to the little surprises one keeps finding in this Jewell of a residence. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely with offerings of Indian, Chinese and Western-style dishes. The room itself was enormous with satellite TV and a lovely shower room. I had a small balcony with stunning views. There is a lovely lounge on the first floor if you just want to sit and relax in a history laden room with comfortable leather chairs. The restaurant has a large terrace so you can have your breakfast outside in the morning, weather willing.
The darkness in the room and the fact you had to play detective to find out which switch turned off which light. The weather was poor but that was bad timing on my behalf. The hotel was covered in cloud for three of my four days there. However, this made the day of bright sunshine a complete revelation. You can catch a view of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, which is 75 km away and straddles the Nepal-Indian border. The hotel doesn’t serve alcohol. There is a bottle store about a kilometre up the road.
We really liked the view that they have from balcony. Located in a very beautiful place. Plus the food is amazing. And most importantly the staff. They have a great team.
Little dust here and there. But over all a great place to stay. The Manager is very helpful. Simply reach out to him if you need any help.
