A welcoming and friendly establishment
Pros:

I booked this hotel deliberately because it is in the old town, had its own car park which was cheaper than the town car parks, and was in walking distance of the Corn Exchange where I was taking part in the art fair for 4 days.

Because of the price I paid, I wasn't expecting 5 star accommodation. Clean and comfy was what I expected. It was a pleasant surprise to also get lovely customer service in the form of May, the owner and her staff.

I knew breakfast wasn't served here, but that was fine, too. There were four cafes within walking distance, including a Costa.

My room was fine, clean, a lovely huge bed. All the things you'd expect: iron and board, safe, hair dryer, tea things, etc.

Only negatives. The radiator was a bit hot, making the room hot at night - i like a cool room. There were stairs to my room. The building is 300 years old and looking its age but I love old places. Similar to a pre-loved toy, it's showing both wear and history.

I was made to feel so welcome. I'd certainly stay here again.

A central hotel, worth a stay
Pros:

Friendly welcome from polite staff upon arrival and our request for a room at the back of the hotel was granted. Bed was very comfortable.

Cons:

Not the fault of the hotel at all, but the prolonged noise (being very loud music from a car stereo) from adjacent car park around midnight/1am disturbed our sleep.

It was acceptable for a 2 star hotel.
Cons:

We were already aware that there was no breakfast available, so that was okay. More relevant were the fact that the bed was squeaky and that the towels had seen better days.

Very dated and worn and probably homeless accommodation if honest
Pros:

Great location

Cons:

Really old fashioned and worn out. Also can't access front of building from 11pm to 7 am but staff do let you know that you have to enter from back lane. I wonder is it used as a homeless hostel mostly with one or two rooms to booking .com etc. Very dated mould in bathroom. No lift and about 3 floors up some really old stairs. Kind of grubby too dust everywhere and floors not hoovered. In fairness not like that in room rather just communal areas. We paid for deluxe double not sure what was deluxe about it. Very hard to get staff at reception. Had emailed for early check in but impossible to find anyone there, when 3pm arrived we had to wait for quite a while. I'd say its a homelessness accommodation generally. Just something didn't seem right tbh. Cld see kitchens on cameras at reception but wo knows where in building they were. Wouldn't stay again tbh

You get what you pay for.
Pros:

Location was great.

Cons:

Too hot in the room, radiator thermostat was broken, light fittings need a good clean. Pillows were compacted and solid.
