Porto Bello Royal

Guest still reserve beds on the beach by putting towels in the early morning and then don't show up untill late. This is so annoying. If there would be something to prevent this, everything is perfect at Porto Bello.

Dass Gäste ihre Badetücher am Morgen früh zum reservieren des Liegestuhls an den Strand bringen. Dies sollte kontrolliert werden.
Das Niveau der Gäste ist für ein ☆☆☆☆☆ Hotel leider stark gesunken (Bekleidung Abendessen....).

It's not what I didn't like, I and I should have just asked reception for an extra pillow or two for the bed as they went flat. However I didn't ask so that's on me

L'hotel non è molto adatto ai carrozzini. La strada priva di scale tra le varie zone è molto più lunga e scomoda. Per andare dal ristorante principale alla zona piscina o al mare era necessario rientrare per prendere l'unico ascensore dell'hotel che negli orari principali era sempre occupato. Il mare è stato molto bello i primi tre giorni. A seguire molto torbido. È questione quindi di fortuna/sfortuna. Altra nota è la questione teli in spiaggia occupati dalle 6 del mattino da gente che poi arrivava in spiaggia ore dopo. Un hotel 5 stelle questo non dovrebbe permetterlo.

A lot of the restaurants closed half way through our stay, including any of the kids club services and there was no staff around.
A lot of food options disappeared each day the holiday progressed up to the point we even got moved to another sister hotel, as we were the last guests in the hotel.
It was like a ghost town.!!

There were some exterior areas which could do with some maintenance eg. Concrete floors which could be fixed. Other than that, nothing to not like about this lovely hotel.

The pillows were like stone. A bit remote but we were happy to stay in the hotel.

Bellboys didn’t even take our luggage in or to the taxi. Simple requests were ignored. Dirty towels remained in the room for the duration of the stay, toilet paper was single ply and like tracing paper. The offerings at the bars were very basic. Pools were all cold, while there were many of them, they were all the same. None were heated.
The kids club was a shack with very basic amenities and next to no security, definitely not somewhere you can leave your child!

It’s massive. We had to walk 15min to eat, go to the beach, etc.
I paid for a sea view and was “upgraded” to a swim-in room with no sea - view

Food can be incredibly repetitive for 7 days

Whilst the breakfast buffet was consistently good. We found that numerous dishes at lunch/evening all tasted the same or were exteremly salty.

Not many greek options, very much catered to tourists. Would of loved to have tried more local dishes rather than burgers, chips and pizzas.

Lots of deserts to choose from but all tasted very bland apart from the odd dish.

- COLD POOLS - only during one day (air was 40 C) it was pleasant to chill and play with the children in the pool. During other days (30-35 degrees and windy weather) the water was cold (our children were shaking during extended stay in the pool - essential tremor). Hotel should invest in the solar panels to have electricity for the pool heating.
- Loud and leaky (water dripping) A/C. One AC unit was weak the other one did not work. Technicians had to repair it twice. Even so it was loud and made strange noise. We were forced to switch it off during the night.
- Full Inclusive gives you drinks in the cups. No bottles, no cans. Fridge is filled irregularly with cans (no Pepsi MAX). So you are forced to buy your own.
- Water bottles are made from very thin plastic, so you spill the water around when opening the bottle for the first time.
- Pool bars open at 11AM. Too late for us.
- Rooms in the main buildings suffers from night music program noise (stops around 22:30) and cigarette smoke smell (in the basement there is hotel staff room where employees are smoking and the smell goes up through the stairs).
- Public hotel restrooms stink
- You often find garbage around the resort and on the beach.
- Hotel beach beds (sun loungers) have BLACK LEATHER cushions. So any inch exposed without towel burns you alive.
- Umbrellas around the pool and beach are small and provides insufficient shade coverage. Pergolas would be much better.
- Family Room has thin doors and no sound insulation between the beds for adults and children. So it is merely just poor optical barrier between to room areas.
- In room bathroom drainage smells badly.
- Windy weather sometimes
- Sea is cold - be prepared for it. Extended stay in it is not pleasant.
- Beach has sand, but the sea entrance has rocks.
- Hotel bins have separated slots for plastic and paper, BUT the bin lids with the appropriate labels are often displaced. So guests have no choice but to mix the waste without separation.
