We really enjoyed our stay at this small hotel with lots of charm. The hotel is a very easy walk from the underground station. You need to take the underground to Ostermalmstorg, travelling towards either Ropsten Line 1 or towards Morby Centrum on Line 14.
You have to check in at Hotel Wellington just around the corner. Look for the Clarion Collection sign as it is easier to spot than the hotel's plaque. We received a very warm welcome and then it is only a short walk to Hotel Parlan which is an annex of the Wellington.
The hotel has very good security, with key codes having to be used twice to gain entry. The building is very quaint with a spiral staircase and marble steps. There is a very small lift, antiquated but works fine.
The interior of the hotel has a comfortable sitting area and you can make yourself tea or coffee in the kitchen area. Tasty biscuits are provided for guests. There is also a small balcony sitting area.
Our room was small but reasonably well equipped and overlooked the inner courtyard area and because of this was very quiet. There is no air con so you have to have the windows open meaning that a street facing room might be noisy. Beds were very comfy. We were grateful for the two comfy chairs provided in the room.
The bathroom is very dated but everything worked fine apart from the fact there was no plug for the sink.
Breakfasts were fantastic. Fresh food, varied and very tasty. You can have eggs cooked if required. There is a small dining area. The hotel was not very busy when we visited so plenty of space.
My main criticisms of this hotel are that there is a shortage of storage space for clothes, no mirror in the main room making it difficult to dry hair using the hairdryer. There is no safe and walls are very bare.
However, overall, this is excellent value for money with a lovely informal atmosphere. The hotel is well positioned for walking to all of the main attractions. There are some excellent restaurants in the local area. We would strongly recommend Aubergine on Linnegaten or if you want fine dining, Gastrologik. We didn't rate Oyster Bar very highly..
Never have I visited such a sweet little hotel.
It’s a luxury flat converted into a hotel – and it is a success.
Nice rooms, fantastic and authentic breakfast and an incredible nice staff-member who made our stay exceedingly terrific.
On the top of it all; it’s cheap. You really can’t find such a nice hotel, so cheap and located in the middle of Stockholm. It’s not possible.
Go – check it out. You won’t regret it..
And yes – you can expect some noise from the street, but it’s only ordinary street-noise: people speaking, some music. But not much traffic, since the street is one-way.
Djurgården and the pedestrian streets are in walking distance.
This is an unusual hotel in that it has only 9 rooms and no lobby. It is associated with the Clarion Wellington around the corner – you check in there. We had a spacious room, which was very clean and quiet. Breakfast is served in a nice sitting area, and consists of everything you’d want – including freshly prepared eggs if you like [Selma does a great job]. Included in your stay is the complimentary dinner ‘buffet’ at the Wellington. I say ‘buffet’ because it is just one main dish each night. We snacked there a couple times – it was all very good. Good value.
The location of this hotel is super but unfortunately it doesn't make the job. The room was small, had an uncomfortable bed and was too noisy. The breakfast was tasty and sufficient and the lady serving it was very friendly. This hotel is supposed to have a good price to earnings ratio but in my opinion their prices are too high for what you get.
Parlan means "the pearl" in Swedish and this is definitely a hidden jewel in Stockholm. It is tucked away in the upscale Östermalm neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It literally feels more like you are staying in someone's charming home than a hotel. Our room was very comfortable and we had a great view overlooking the inner courtyard. There is a small dining room, kitchen and sitting room that are all available for your use. Each morning there is an AMAZING breakfast of fresh cheese, meats, bread, yogurt and juices that I looked forward to every day (and we would make sandwiches to take with us for the day so that we could avoid buying lunch). Also included is a light dinner at the Wellington Hotel just two blocks away so you can literally avoid having to buy a meal during the day which is great. There are also always cookies and croissants sitting out in the kitchen if you get hungry. If there is one downside of the Parlan it is that they have been bought out by Clarion Hotels (which also owns The Wellington) which does make it feel a bit more corporate as you have to check in with them. The next time that I am back in Stockholm I would definitely stay here again as it was safe, warm, comfortable, conveniently located, and felt like a second home in a new city.
I would not call it hotel, but fancy guest-house, and a very nice one !!
Rooms are a bit noisy, since they are facing the street and everyone who lives opposite side can see you.
Amenities are non, just a soap and shampoo, but still I recommend this place very much.
It has a very nice living-room area and a kitchen, a small veranda for the public as well and a very nice breakfast.
The best part : the price was included a dinner at the main hotel restaurant, a 100 meter away from this location.
Very nice people at the reception and great value, for the money spent.
Stay descretely in an ordinary Stockholm apartment building, a small room with bath of your own. Light and roomy, as well as cosy, salong and kitchen area. Breakfast 7 - 9 o'clock. A homey place with personnel between 7 to 13 o' clock's only.
You have to look carefully to see the entrance to the hotel which is on the third floor of a nondescript building. A code provided by the hotel manager gets you into the building and the a charming old elevator brings you up to Floor 2 from Floor 0 (ground). The same code then admits you into the hotel, which is comprised of about two dozen rooms. If you arrive in the afternoon, your key is waiting in a envelop at the front desk. The rooms are clean, efficient, and quiet. Our bed was very comfortable and plenty of pillows were provided. There was a nice desk at which to take advantage of the free WiFi.
There are two lounging areas, one of which shares space with the dining room where a very, very nice included breakfast is served (self-served, actually, buffet style). During the day, one can go to the kitchen and help yourself to tea or coffee. On evening, we brought in a couple pizzas and used the kitchen and the dishes and utensils to eat them.
The hotel is a few minute's walk to the waterfront near the Opera House and the Raoul wallenberg memorial. A 15 minute walk will get you to the Old CIty and the Grand Palace.
There are some good restaurants close by and for the late night munchies,a 7-11 across the street.
If you crave opulence, this is not your hotel. If you like small, quiet, homey, and inexpensive (by Swedish standards), this is a great choice.
Just 10 minutes walk from central Stockholm, located in the calm Östermalm area, ok room w high sealing and normal clean B&B standard.
Very nice and helping personal, just ask and they will help you with anything.
If you're looking for a home away from home in central Stockholm - this is your stop :)
first of all the staff was very friendly and the small hotel was irresistably cosy, like a big, nicely decorated traditional swedish östermalm-apartment. the room was clean and and spacious enough. wonderful bed, duvets and linen. no hair dryer was a minus. breakfast was home-made style, just enough of everything, not a typical brunch-buffet. peaceful atmosphere and needless to say, fantastic location, within walking distance to sture plan and the center in general
Good hotel with a very comfortable room, although the bathroom is a little bit small. For me, the great thing is that you are on your own. When we arrive there wasn't a receptionist, only an envelope with my name and keys. The entrance has a code key, so you almost feel like an apartment. The breakfast is simple but has everything that we usually eat.
I like this hotel and would definitely go back the next time we are in Sweden. With only 9 bedrooms it feels very homely. I think this is a converted luxury apartment which has been very tastefully decorated with a contemporary style. Our room was spacious, light and airy - very much to my taste, breakfast was plentiful - no complaints whatsoever! A good area with some nice restaurants - and a great indoor market with fresh fish and quality produce.
Just one thing - I didn't read my booking confirmation which gives you the code to get in
I stayed at Parlan Hotell for 1 night during a business trip to Stockholm. The hotel is located very convenient in regards to proximity to restaurants and the city in general. The hotel is very small and is located in an old apartment which has its charm. I had a single room and the room was quite small and sparsely decorated and the toilet was small too. But being on a business trip it was no problem at all. The breakfast was quite big when you consider the size of the hotel.
All in all I would recommend this hotel if you don’t need anything else than a place to sleep.
We spent two nights at Parlan and were very impressed with the location, breakfast and hospitality. There was an incredible array of food available at breakfast. The staff were very helpful and service oriented. When we arrived there had been mistake with our booking but it was promptly dealt with including with many apologies. We love the experience of staying in genuinely local accommodation and the Parlan didn't disappoint. This place has genuine character. We also stayed street side and as with other reviewers it was noisy. My partner's father stayed on the court yard side and it was very quiet. I'd highly recommend the Parlan if you like genuinely local accomodation.
Spent three nights at the Parlan. Spotlessly clean, convenient location and charming breakfast room and lounge. Breakfast fine and served between 8 and 10 which is longer than many places. We were on the street side and it was noisy two of the three nights we were there (weekend). No mirror in the bathroom, but otherwise fine. Very good value in this expensive city.
We have just returned from a 5 night stay here and really enjoyed it. As long as you have the code to the outer doors there shouldn't be a problem. Our room was large and clean. There was some noise outside overnight but it didn't overly disturb us. The hotel has a lovely little room where breakfast is served and a tiny balcony that we often used before we went out in the evening. The location of the hotel is fabulous. We walked everywhere and there were lots of restaurants to choose from. I thought the breakfast was fine. Personally I prefer a non chain hotel and don't need that much assistance from hotel staff so all good!
A remodeled floor of an apt building. Room basic, but no soap in dispenser for two days and window shade still not working like previous complaint. Breakfast just adequate. Use of breakfast room for reading a plus. No one on desk most of the time and weekend woman was not welcoming. BE SURE To Get The Code To get In before you Arrive!!! This is awkward because you are locked out on the street without the code!
We enjoyed our stay at Parlan Hotell. Honestly, we had no idea it was a Bed and Breakfast going into to, so it was a funny surprise to us (not a bad one!). Our room was much larger than other rooms we stayed in while in Europe. The downsides were: the curtains did not block out the sun and there was not a thermostat in the room. Therefore, we had to open a window to keep the room cool, but there is a 7-11 on the corner, which received deliveries throughout the night. This kept us up most of the night and the sunrise at 4 am did not help. Maybe we should have requested a fan. Other than this issue, we just loved the quaint-ness of this hotel. Just a heads up: the included breakfast is not huge. My husband didn't find anything he liked (yes, he is a little picky..), and I wanted some apples, which were not offered. Location was in a residential neighborhood, which felt safe; however, we felt we were away from some of the main city attractions. Overall we would recommend this hotel with the caution that it is a Bed and Breakfast and NOT a huge hotel/chain so that you don't have unreasonable expectations in terms of amenities, etc.
Stellar accommodation in Stockholm. Staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were exceptionally clean. The breakfast spread was also delicious and plentiful.
We arrived late in the evening and no staff were present. However, we received detailed instructions in order to get into the building and get settled in our room.
The furnishing of the building is also quite stunning.
i have stayed in stockholm a few times so i know that it is an expensive city, but really!
having effectively broken in to the hotel (no reception staff most of the day) i found my room to be the size of most normal hotel bathrooms. the furnishings are low quality. the bathroom - when you can squeeze into it - has a sink to small to shave in and a shower which you have to hold in one hand as there is no wall fitting for it. the window blinds don't work. the windows don't close properly.
every single noise in the passageway and kitchen is audible in the room.
the daily servicing is minimal at best - dirty cups left by my bed, sink uncleaned, dirty towels left where i dropped them - and of course there is no one around to talk to about it
don't stay here!!!!
