Pros:

The staff were very helpful and there is a free transport service to the railway or bus station. This hotel also provides sunrise, sunset, and stargazing viewings at affordable prices. The staff will drive you to the optimal viewing spot, help you take time-lapse videos, and give you a brief introduction of the area and what you can expect to see. Of course, what you can see depends on the weather - if the weather is bad, they will refund your money or you can choose to try again the next day if you stay for more than one night. We were lucky and caught a gorgeous sunset and amazing star-filled sky. The hotel staff/guide is very experienced and takes great photos! The hotel also rents out jackets at 100 TWD per pax (for the entire duration of your stay). We went in July, in the middle of a hot and sweltering summer, and Google told us the temperatures in Alishan were high. However, it was windy and chilly in the evening and at night.

The hotel also sells many souvenirs, skincare products, and beer / wine in the lobby. The Alishan local beer is great!

The hotel has its own Western breakfast option within the premises, if you don't want the typical Chinese buffet-style breakfast or don't want to have to walk 5-10 minutes to the Chinese breakfast restaurant. The Chinese breakfast restaurant changes every day and the breakfast times are 6am to 8.30am or 9am. They really clear the food once the breakfast time is over so make sure you wake up in time!

Cons:

The room was quite small and not soundproof, so we could hear people talking in the lobby / corridor. We got the first floor because it supposedly had a "garden view", but it was just a small stretch of land with some grass and trees. The window was right beside our bed and there was another hotel opposite our window, so we kept the curtains drawn most of the time. The dehumidifier was faulty and would stop working after some time. Nevertheless, it was a functional and cosy accomodation given that it is located at the top of the mountain. Luckily, there was still hot water and a hair dryer.
