Our stay at Wiji Island House ended uwith a very stressful experience due to poor owner’s and staff communication about the boat transfer.
I communicated with the owner directly via whatsapp and asked SEVERAL times about the boat transfer exact arrival time (as we had tight schedule - hired a private taxi to take us for a flight in Monteria). We were told the colectivo boat would arrive at 8:00 a.m., so we had to be at the Wiji beach 8:00 sharp. We were ready early, at 7:40, we even checked with a staff member to confirm whether the boat would stop at Wiji beach. He told us to sit and wait, he would inform us when the boat arrived. After waiting about 40 minutes, we asked again is everything ok and we were told that the boat had actually arrived at 7:30 and had already left because we were having breakfast???!!! No one informed us when it arrived, and if we had known it was there we would have skipped breakfast immediately. This created a very stressful situation because we had to be in Paso Nuevo at 9:00 a.m. to meet a taxi driver and catch a flight from Montería airport at 12:00. Since we had no other option, we had to hire a private boat which costs several times more than colectivo boats.
In our opinion, a responsible business would acknowledge such a mistake and offer to cover the transfer or at least the difference we had to pay due to this miscommunication. Unfortunately, when we proposed this solution to the owner, it was simply ignored.
When staying at a place accessible only by boat, reliable coordination is essential, and this experience was very disappointing.

Nos tocó una tormenta tropical que nos impidió movilizarnos el día de nuestra salida.
La atención de el personal es muy amable , es un lugar muy silencioso , las cabañas muy lindas piscina.

Le calme, la beaute du resort,la situation,la qualite desrepas le soir et le midi.la rencontre avec des parresseux.
Manque un petit fun....pas de musique de fond, un acceuil assez froid,les petits dej vraiment pas fun.
La Isla en general es muy linda, la playa tranquila, el hotel es muy confortable, las camas, todas sus areas, la conexion con la naturaleza permite disfrutar de un descanso totalmente tranquilo. Super recomendado.

Les chambres sont superbes. La cuisine est très bonne et à un prix raisonnable pour les menus du midi et du soir (30-35$). L’emplacement éloigné des autres hostel sur l’île et proche de 2 plages. Le calme, la nature flamboyante dans l’hôtel, les paresseux qui y habitent un arbre.
Établissement entièrement non fumeurs, un peu compliqué pour fumer sa cigarette le soir car pas de lumière.

The location is amazing -- you get privacy and serenity away from the town, and the beaches right next to Wiji are the best on the island (especially for sunsets)! The town is only about a 20 minute walk away as well. The facilities, pool, and cabanas were beautiful.
Breakfast was a little small (though yummy), and it got a little warm at night with only one fan.

No privacy in the showes

Wiji was exactly what we were looking for in a small week getaway. Clean, calm, good wifi, 15 min walk from the main town, pool, comfortable houses and some beautiful wild beaches. On top of that, it is run by Juan Camilo who is super friendly and resourceful. He helped us arrive to the island (in low season) and had a contact for anything we wanted to do there. Would love to come back

The quietness, the nature surrounding the location, the beautiful slots in the Palms trees of the property, the easiness to access to the ecolodge. The super welcoming, helpful and friendly staff.
Having a pool is a plus. And the food serve in the restaurant really delicious!
We loved the bungalows and the pool area. Everything was clean and the bungalows were very comfortable. Also, the quality of the food was great.
The manager was very friendly but not too motivated. We had some questions and issues about trips etc during that time and we always had to asked a second or third time because the forgot about it.
Even though the food was great you can't choose what to eat - there is just only meal every day.
Alao, the bar is basically just for decoration. They don't have the ingredients for none of the drinks on the menu, except for beer.
Wiji is a great place to hang out, cool cabanas and a swimming pool, two beaches close by and generally excellent food. The boat trip over is pretty seamless, and Daniella and her team are very helpful and friendly. What is particularly lovely is all the sloths that live on the property, you get the chance to see them up close just by your cabana or the pool. The set menu for lunch and dinner is generally a good choice, and there are a la carte options as well.
Breakfasts were a bit carb heavy. A fridge in the room would have been a bonus, also a change of towels over the stay. There was no room information to say you needed to leave towels on the floor to get them changed. Minor quibbles though. Paso Nuevo, where we got the boat over, is not very lovely, worth minimising the time you spend there.
the staff is the kindest, the rooms are super comfy, it’s so peaceful…you can hear the waves from your bed at night. the restaurant offers a nice range of plates, all of them top quality. we stayed there for 4 nights, had to work and the wifi was working perfectly well. can’t recommend this place enough!!!
