The bed, decor, porch area
Lack of toiletries. No conditioner or hand lotion.
Love that the lodge is inside the state park.. The drive in is beautiful.
And secluded.
The pool area/ water park
Was clean and plentiful towels.
The on-site hotel restaurant, it's lovely inside with the view of hummingbirds in a fountain... However, the service was subpar. And food just average. Are one hundred and fifty dollar room, said, queen beds at the reservation, but we're just doubles. Well, I appreciate it. It's an elder lodge. The bathroom needed attention, the toilet rocked, the bathroom door what's split and protooting. The grout was moldy. The blinds in the room had been broken.Several times and did not open and close all the way.
The cabin is in the woods and is a great getaway. We enjoyed the spacious cabin with s decent kitchen and linens, and a nice big balcony to listen to birds and night sounds. If you don't like nature, this is not for you. In order to enjoy the park, you do need a car of course. We did wish there had been walking trails near the cabins so we wouldn't have to drive to get to one. You can get meals at the Lodge, but they are not great. We came with our own food. If you like birding, this is a great place to be.
Be warned that your phone won't have adequate signal to work as a hotspot in case you have work to do. You will need to go to the Lodge to access a signal and even that is weak at times. We were not there with any work, so the absence of phone signal was okay for us. But this isn't clear on the property's website, though no wifi is clear. No signal for your phone and no wifi are not the same thing.
Everything was good.
Cost.
The "water park" feature was a fun distraction at the end of the day. Room had a Keurig which was nice. The Little Gem Restaurant was a nice place to eat - the staff was really nice to interact with. The added bonus of being within Brown County State Park made for easy travel to the trailheads.
The room AC blew out cold air but is was "musty" and damp - high humidity in the room. The bed, comforter, sheets, countertops, bathroom, toilet, sink and shower all had small, black "cat-like" hairs all over them.
Cabin was great.
Thw manager Chuck was a jerk. I got there at 7:02 and because he had a big group come in they wouldn't seqt us. I took my daughter and 3 grandkids on vacation to have a good time and this supposedly great place to eat but because of Chuck the jerk we didn't go bad. The water was nice. He was my only complaint. He needs to go!
Location of being in the park, hotel staff were pleasant
Lack of options for food, restaurant closed in morning with no warning. Pool closed in morning later than schedule, then when it did open they took the 2hr break earlier than 2 hrs.
We were surprised by the location, so pretty! would have loved to have more time to check out surroundings
When we got there we had to pay 15 dollars to get into the park. The restaurant just closed, 8pm. Our room was not cleaned, hairs and urine on toilet, yuck! We booked this hotel because of the pool but it was closed, later it opened but when the kids got there it closed again right before they were ready to jump in.
The pool would open again at 10am, maybe, but when we found out that there was no breakfast either we decided to just check out.
We did only book one night and hope we just had bad luck but we feel we payed way too much for what we got.
It was clean
The internet was pretty much non existent, it was damp and musty in the room, like a damp cold in the room.
WE LOVE ABE MARTIN LODGE
Nothing
Comfortable bed.
No towel rack, 14 pillows with no place to put them, low shower head, worn look to walls, ceiling, etc.
Clean rooms nice pool
Pool closes to early internet was not good tv cable was not good
The staff was kind!
The room was dirty, part of the ceiling was falling off, there was water damage in the room. The room wasn’t properly cleaned before we came. I.e it needed to be dusted there were cobwebs and dust on surfaces. The coffee cups were left behind dirty in the room as well. A ballon was left beside the fridge.
