There are two Villa Bellas in Ohrid, who knew? Well booking.com did because they’re both on their website and of course the taxi driver took us to the wrong one.
On arrival at the one at Nada Fileda we were immediately told that we could not pay by credit card, cash only, which was a great inconvenience and some additional cost. We of course complained but the manager couldn’t care less and blamed the banks and it being low season. In September? The restaurants and boats seemed very busy. Looking at the reviews, especially the ones entered after we had booked this is a very common occurrence, if not the norm. Booking.com website makes no mention of this cash only policy, it just states that no credit card needed, which is not that same as not accepted at all.
The room we had was large and comfortable with a view of the lake and an abandoned building site, (obviously not the hotel’s fault). There was a foul smell, but this was cleared by flushing a drain with the shower hose.
Breakfast was odd, it was a buffet served from under the stairs, which was cramped if more than two people were there. It comprised of a modest selection of cereals, cold meats, cheese and breads for toasting. Unlimited tea and coffee. Taking it out to the garden was a relaxing way to start the day.
The hotel is situated at the top of a steep but short hill, which we knew but should be kept in mind if doing many walks into the beautiful town centre or equally beautiful lakeside.

Bed was comfortable, room a decent size. Good to have a balcony which was also quite large.
Location. Up a hill, not suitable for those with mobility issues. Also steps in property were tricky up to the room. Breakfast was disappointing, items left out under a staircase, very few tables in the garden. Unfortunately on arrival we were informed that we could only pay in cash! Nowhere on Booking.com was this mentioned so we were not prepared. Meant we had to withdraw cash from our credit card incurring quite a sizeable fee. Maybe we were a bit naive not having more cash in a country like North Macedonia, but we are well travelled and have never encountered this before. This put a dampener on what otherwise was a good stay in Ohrid which is a beautiful place. There are 2 Villa Bellas in the area and we were originally taken to the wrong one by a taxi driver. Fortunately the lady at that villa was wonderful - made us coffee whilst we waited for another taxi to take us back to the correct one. The lake is beautiful and the scenery spectacular.
Merkezde temiz odalara sahip şirin bir otel.
Kahvaltı yaptığınız masalarda kediler dolaşıyor, benim için sorun değildi ama arkadaşlarım için sorun oldu. Biraz daha dikkatli olumalı
Great location and exceptional view. Clean room.
Host insisted card machine was ‘broken’ and asked for cash. Breakfast was poor.
Lovely view from the balcony.
We were forced to pay cash when booking.com advised that credit card was accepted. Breakfast area and choice was appalling and infested with pestering cats. No lift, surrounding area was scruffy.
Close to the citycenter.
Balkon manzarası, oda genişliği, odanın temizliği ve konuma yakınlığı çok güzeldi
Extremely friendly staff who helped us with both parking and breakfast earlier than regular schedule.
Excellent view from the terrace.
Very good location in the old part of the city.
Location was excellent. It was also very quiet as early in the season
It was very clean. The AC was available. The front door was open all day. The view to the lake and the city was wonderful form the balcony. The restroom was clean and well-equipped.
The hotel is on a very steep hill, and we had to walk a lot up there with our packages. The breakfast was very poor, the food selection was not up to our standards. For example there were'nt any fresh vegetables and fruits available, and the balcony where we had to eat was not guided from sunlight.
The best thing about this hotel is the view (if you book a room with a view of Lake Ohrid). Besides, the rooms are very big.
This hotel looks more like a bed & breakfast than a hotel. There is no reception desk and you have to prepare the breakfast yourself.
First off, the location and the view from the lakeside room were really amazing. The location also was easy to get to from the airport, which was only 15 minutes away. The owner/manager was very polite and accommodating, and we thought the price for the two rooms we had was really a bargain. The location was close to the shops in the city center and everything worth seeing in Ohrid was well within a 15 minute walk. The garden, where we had breakfast, was well-kept and was quiet and relaxing. Overall, the location was a great place for a family stay.
The parking area outside the hotel was pretty narrow and on the street, and I was a bit worried about dinging the rental car while parking. That said, the owner made sure that space always was available for us to park. The only other thing I can think of is that because we arrived off season, we had to pay the fee for the rooms in cash, which was a bit of a hassle to collect that much money from an ATM.
