Very nice staff, super helpful.
We left our stuff and went for a hike
When we got back we could shower, in addition to keeping out stuff safe
It was very welcoming to stay with Zarela. She is a wonderful hostess. She helped me with drivers and trek recommendations to make the most of my stay in Huaraz. We had some great conversations. It's a quiet location but close to everything in town, and the Thai restaurant is spectacular. Also a nice hot shower and lots of great common spaces.
Everything was overall great. My only feedback is that the bed could be a little more comfortable, with some other blanket options. I was too hot under the big comforter but too cold without it.
Loved my stay at Casa de Zarela. Both Zarela the owner and staff were very friendly, and Zarela was very generous in sharing information and advice about potential hikes and was often around to talk to the guests in the common area. the place had a great atmosphere, while also being quiet at night (not a party hostel). I would definitely come back.
One of the best properties I have stayed in - Zarela and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind and she had very helpful advice about the various hikes available around Huaraz given our tight schedule. The Thai food is absolutely delicious and we ate dinner there every night after a long day of hiking, breakfast is very tasty too. The hotel is in a quieter area of town and is beautifully designed, with a mountaineering theme to inspire you to explore the mountains around.
Our triple room was clean and tidy, nice bathroom with good water pressure and plenty of hot water! There are several nice communal areas to relax in after your hike, including a couple outdoor terraces
We loved our time at Casa de Zarela, we felt really comfortable and welcome and we will definitely be back!
Very comfortable place, with many nice places to lounge and hang out. Zarela was very welcoming and gave great advice for my upcoming trek in Huayhuash. Meals were delicious and healthy and washing service was convenient. Just a lovely place and will stay again for sure if back in Huaraz.
Always very friendly. Great Thai food
This place is amazing. Zarela is so friendly and helpful. She speaks great English and can help you book anything you need, including logistics for climbing and trekking in the area. All the staff are lovely. The vibe is easy-going and well organized. The rooms are very comfortable and there are plants everywhere. Nice, easy walk into town. The restaurant is fantastic and delicious, and one of the few places in Peru that never got us sick!
Nothing. 10/10
Zarela was super helpful during our stay. We were able to organize laundry through her, we ate at the restaurant twice, and the beds were super comfy. Water was hot, had good outdoor space, and was a great way to relax for a day after our trek.
Accommodations weren't super luxe but for $40 USD/day it was great.
Zarela is awesome. I’ve stayed with her multiple times now and it’s a great place in a quieter section of Huaraz, but still close to main square. Great Thai food too in the restaurant at night, and good breakfast options. It’s a popular place.
There are a lot of hard surfaces and sound echoes a lot. People talking, chairs scraping, etc. Neighborhood is quieter but the hotel itself can be a bit loud. But this is the norm for Huaraz. I still think it’s one of the best options in town.
Super helpful host! Clean rooms! Great food
La Casa de Zarela is a wonderful place to stay - good location - fine rooms (not luxury, but good) - and Zarela is incredibly helpful and kind with an easygoing attitude. A very nice vibe about the place and it has a shared kitchen and great spaces to sit and work. We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it highly.
I cannot imagine a better place to have spent our time in Huaraz. Zarela provides true hospitality at every step of the way. The place is beautiful, there are numerous inviting common spaces, and it is a place to meet and talk to other travelers. When our trip didn't go as planned, Zarela went above and beyond to not only help us navigate the situations, but to help us still have a great trip. I cannot recommend highly enough. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Huaraz.
The hotel is away from the chaos of the downtown core. During our stay there were festivities at the local church which was very fun to watch in the evening. The Thai restaurant in the hotel was so good that we ate there 3 out of the 4 nights we stayed!! Zarela is an exceptional host. She organized a private tour to Chavin de Huantar for us with a lovely driver, Wilmer, and an English speaking guide, Martín. We highly recommend this hotel during your stay in Huaraz.
Nothing
100% recommend Zarela’s. The owner was wonderful. She had wonderful recommendations on places to hike and good restaurants to eat at, along with just being a fun person to talk with. She was there at 6am to let me in and give me my room after an overnight bus ride to Huaraz. She even makes you a full French press of coffee every morning. Accommodations were very relaxing and comfortable
Nothing. Everything was excellent
A very helpful owner. Travels a lot herself so knows what travelers want or need. And she serves great Thai food.
None
La Casa de Zarela was the perfect place to stay in Huaraz. Zarela, the owner, is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about Huaraz and its surroundings, and always ready to provide helpful tips. The breakfast and Thai food she serves are both great. A nice extra: they provide a laundry service using cold wash and air drying, perfect for sensitive woolen outdoor gear. We stayed here to acclimatize to the altitude and could conveniently leave our luggage while we did the Santa Cruz trail, and come back for one last night. I highly recommend staying here during your trip to Huaraz.
We stayed at La Casa de Zarela for almost one week. The accommodation was really nice and clean. Our room was cleaned every day. Zarela’s house is located very close to the city centre which was convenient when going out for dinner or shopping. There is a small kitchen available which we appreciated for making a tea in the evening or for hikes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Zarela gave us good tips and provided contacts for local drivers. When needed, an early breakfast can be prepared for you as well, which is really great when planning to leave for hikes very early in the morning.
The only thing we would mention is the fact that it is not possible to pay by card if Zarela is not around. When making the reservation, the description said that it is possible to pay by card which we also confirmed with Zarela after arrival. Unfortunately, Zarela left for few days and we were supposed to meet her on our last day again and pay the accommodation. Zarela however stayed away longer than expected which made us unable to pay by card, resulting in us having to pay extra charges when withrawing additional cash for our next trip.
