We had a wonderful stay at the Max Hotel in Nungwi. The location is ideal, a 3-5 minute walk from the beach. Restaurants and a shopping street for souvenirs were also within walking distance, and there's an ATM at the end of the street. Prices are generally in dollars, so exchange your money for dollars or shillings. You could also pay contactless with a credit card at almost every restaurant. The hotel is located on a somewhat dimly lit street, but it wasn't bothersome. Around the corner was a restaurant that was open late and lit up the street. The rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was included, but we were always late for it because we slept until 11:00, haha. We only had one issue with the air conditioning leaking, but that was fixed within 2 minutes, and the water on the floor was cleaned up immediately! The toilet also stopped working at one point, but that was also fixed very quickly! The electricity went out briefly every day, but that's normal in Africa and also happened when you were eating at a restaurant or in the club. The hotel does have a generator, so you'll have light and water pressure back on quickly, but you might occasionally be without electricity or air conditioning. So make sure your power bank is charged for your phone. There's also a security guard at the hotel door every evening. We really appreciated this, as the Maasai sometimes walk with you to your hotel. I think this prevented them from walking into your hotel. A huge thank you also to Katerina, the hotel owner! We had checked out and gone to Paje, where we weren't very happy. I sent Katerina a message, and she made it possible for us to return to Nungwi and stay at the Max Hotel. We were so happy about that! We will definitely be back!

The breakfast was not that much amazing as mentioned in the previous comments, the refrigirator was not working at all, music at 07:00 in the morning coming from the other hotel oposite
Nothing to like
Cats everywhere, which causes pet hairs to be everywhere including chairs. It’s not ideal if your allergic to pets, there’s visible cracks in the doors that allow mosquitoes in your room all night, there’s no switch for the fan in the room so you have to use to use the AC, there’s no hot water either

Не понравилась ванная комната, все старое, сыпется. У отеля новые хозяева и сервис не очень. Хозяйка Катя ходила вечно с недовольным лицом, на вопросы отвечала с раздражением, как будто мы проживали за ее счет. Такое отношение напрягало.
Очень понравилось пребывание в этом отеле! 😊 Катерина и её муж — замечательные хозяева, всегда готовы помочь и подсказать. В день вылета разрешили нам искупаться и оставить чемоданы, за что огромное спасибо! Завтраки вкусные и очень сытные, до пляжа около 6 минут пешком. Отличное место для отдыха — рекомендуем!
În opinia noastră, Hotelul Max este un loc minunat. Am stat la alte câteva hoteluri de pe insulă, dar acesta ne-a lăsat cele mai frumoase amintiri. Raport calitate-preț excelent. Mic dejun delicios. Am citit în recenzii că apa de la duș era sărată. Dar acest lucru nu este adevărat, cel puțin când am fost noi acolo. Apa de la duș era proaspătă. Toată infrastructura necesară este în apropiere, inclusiv o cafenea, un restaurant și o bancă. Cea mai bună plajă de pe insulă, în opinia noastră, este aici - plaja Nungwi. Price - quality corresponds. 3 minutes to the ocean. all the infrastructure around is within walking distance. Cozy place. We liked everything. Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Delicious, hearty breakfasts.
Nice, clean, cozy family hotel. Wonderful staff. Breakfast is beyond praise. Very tasty and satisfying. I was worried about the salty water in the shower, but it turned out, in vain. After talking with the manager, he explained that the water they use is not from the ocean, but from the well. But it has a salty taste due to its proximity to the ocean. But at the moment when I lived in this hotel, the management used imported fresh water. From the words of the manager, I realized that they would continue to use fresh water. To be honest, if I knew that it was so good here, I would have stayed here longer. But I was going to go to another part of the island. Internet is good. When the electricity was turned off, the hotel turned on the generator. In general, I have only positive impressions from the hotel. The beach is 3 minutes walk. It is beautiful, considered one of the best in Zanzibar. There are many cafes, restaurants, shops and pharmacies around.
For me personally, there are no downsides.

Purtroppo nella doccia c’è acqua salata che per quanto può essere depurata è comunque salata. Molto salata. Una cosa che non mi aspettavo e non mi era mai capitato.

Great location if you want to be in the hustle and bustle of Nungwi and the staff were lovely!
The showers are salt water and sometimes without hot. The laundry service was cheap but again the water ruined some of our clothes.
