What can i say? We absolutely loved our stay here. We were sad to leave Beijing and wish we booked longer. The location was exactly what i wanted from China. Lots of vibes and authenticity.
The staff spoke english well and nothing was too much of a problem.
The bed was firm but we like firm.
Good facilities including breakfast (with lots of choice). We had a couple of days with and early start so they made us a take away bag.
Washing was done for us which was appreciated and cost 100.
Tea and fruit and water in the room
Tele with english movies and shows to relax in the evening (we don’t tend to do much at night as generally do early mornings).
I loved this stay 100% recommend.
The location is great, buried in the hutongs in the shadow of the Bell Tower but away from Bell Tower craziness. There are lots of interesting bars and restaurants around and the Metro is very convenient. The middle-Eastern style breakfasts are a big plus and a major feature of why the hotel is attractive. The onsite bakery is excellent too. We were upgraded to a bigger room with a kitchen area with on tap drinking water, which is unusual and great. Underfloor heating and an actual bath in the bathroom were appreciated too. The towels were great.
The upgrade was to a loft apartment, which was a mistake for us. The mattress (not particularly comfortable) was on the floor and up stairs from the bathroom, not ideal for guests who are no longer young enough to scramble in and out of bed easily. The living space had a small sofa but no other comfortable chair (although there was plenty room for one) so we were rather awkwardly perched side by side. The small kitchenette had dishes and glasses but no cloths or towels so keeping them clean and it tidy was a challenge. The room had large windows but looked directly onto the courtyard so we had to keep the blinds down which made it rather gloomy. The main issue is the 5 star price in the absence of 5 star amenities. Pity. I stayed here once before when the prices were half what they are now, and would say that was good value. In my opinion it no longer is.
Nulla!
location was great, tucked away on a side street allowed for a quiet stay, staff were amazing, helpful and friendly, break fast was also great with a different twist. loved the cats and fish and room was quirky and different with beds on an upper level.

Das Personal, die Art und Lage des Hotels sind einmalig. Es war wunderbar, dass wir alles dort vorhanden hatten (Bäckerei, Restaurant, Bar).
Great hotel, really friendly staff and well worth it. Lovely to stay in a hutong.
The owners transformed the space beautifully and the kind hosts offered many tips on attractions and local activities. Well-utilized creatively designed rooms, fantastic location, central, and the beds are the comfiest. Bonus for breakfast options - western or oriental dim sum, and in-the-hotel tea ceremony. Would recommend in a heartbeat and will happily return to the Orchid once in Beijing.
It was such a beautiful and charming hotel within a hutong in Beijing. We felt so at home here. It was peaceful and quiet. The staff were so lovely and helpful. We appreciated the map and small gift at check out. The staff recommended us a restaurant for Peking duck and helped us book a DiDi- the duck was incredible! We missed out on breakfast a few times due to early tours but my husband had the French toast on our last morning and said it was the best he has ever had. I highly recommend this hotel ❤️
Only one tiny point- our hotel room (garden room) didn’t have a key per se but a metal lock for the external wooden door. We expected a key to lock the sliding door within the garden patio which gave us direct access to our room. It took a while for my husband to relax about it but to be honest Beijing was so incredibly safe that we ended up forgetting about it by the second day!
It seemed a lovely hotel in a hutong near the drum tower. A quiet street but really near the hustle and bustle of Beijing. We were not really there very long so can’t really comment about the hotel facilities but the room was great and the staff really helpful
