The hotel is a family run hotel with very friendly staff, price/quality is very good.
Rooms are basic and kept clean by proper daily housekeeping and equipped with everything you need including a strong and hot shower.
We had a family room with a small ensuite bunkbeds room for our two children which was perfect as they slept separate but still in the same room behind a closed door.
Breakfast is sufficient and the owner, Herr Laireiter, cooks eggs every morning just the way you like them.
Also we were allowed to sit in the breakfast room at night to have a drink and mr. Laireiter had interesting stories to tell about Grossarl.
The snow was fresh and good so skiing from and to the hotel was possible :-)
Last but not least we left early in the morning before breakfast started and were given some prepared sandwiches for the road for the four of us.
WELL DONE Hotel Sonnhof!
If we have to think of something negative it might be that the hotel is a pretty decent walk (down & up the mountain) for approx. 15 minute to the town centre.
We took relatively affordable and always quickly available taxis back to hotel most of the time.
But we knew this when we booked the hotel (we came by train & taxi) so really cannot blame the hotel for this.
If you come by car you will not have this issue as the hotel is an only a few minutes drive from town and again, the taxi services operate just fine.
The hotel was super well cleaned and the family where super nice. It was super easy to reach the ski slope, you could start the day skiing without the need for a car.
The room I got the first night wasn't what I expected but after some back and forth we arrived at an agreement and I was moved to a better room. However, I got an apartment way bigger (for a family of 4), there were no utensils in the kitchen (only 2 pots and cutlery) and the internet only arrived in the kitchen and not the most reliable (I was working for 2 days.
