Villa Del Mar
We stayed for 4 nights at the Villas Del Mar in Mancora, Peru. It’s a very nice boutique hotel. They kept the room neat and clean, the bed was bigger than a king and comfortable and the shower was good.
There’s a nice pool with comfortable recliners and has a beautiful area to sit, relax, read enjoy the view of the ocean or take a meal. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.
There’s a gym if you walk up the path to the left and to the right is a place to lounge and watch the sunset. See photo.
Oh, and just for fun they have an iguana I named Mary that likes to come swim in the pool once in awhile.
Second time Im here and it is perfect.Perfect food and service.Beautiful room, fantastic view on the ocean. Very nice personal .It is quiet, just 80 meters walking to the beach. But they have also a great swimmingpool.
My partner and I decided to stay here after travelling around Peru. We were there out of season which was perfect for us.
The place was quiet, the service quick and attentive which made for a very happy and friendly environment.
The breakfast & dinner that we had were excellent - the chef was at the top of his game!
My only advice would be to ask all they can do for you when you arrive. We arrived out of hours so never really had a chance to go through this but as we are very relaxed travellers, we asked whenever we needed anything and they answered with excellent care and professionalism. They even packed us a take away breakfast for our early flight.
Definitely stay here rather than in the centre of town. The view is fabulous, relaxed and you can set a ride into the town for only 8 soles.
My husband and I went to Mancora after traveling around Peru and thought it was going to be the "new Tulum" as this is what we had read, however we were sadly disappointed...Villas del Mar is in fact a clean hotel with little houses which overlooks the sea. Nevertheless if people make the place than don't expect to feel much when leaving here. The hotel team leave you alone to the point of your feeling bad when needing to ask for anything, no additional efforts are made or questions asked to guarantee an exceptional experience. Although a child friendly hotel we found the pool continuously over run by families of kids, with no additional place for lounging quietly to escape. The pool hours also don't allow for evening swims which could have been an ideal time for more adult friendly swimming. For what you pay to stay here and how much it costs to get here it's simply not the wow factor by any means that we were hoping for. The town is not the idyllic fishing village we had hoped for either but instead a dirty overcrowded backpackers stopping ground. We left feeling sad that our stay hadn't been more memorable or that we couldn't think of one member of staff who made us want to return.
We stayed in the three bed villa which has a stunning outdoor bench area as well as seating, next to the plantation of locally produced herbs and spices!
The setting is on a cliff overlooking the sea. Please go to my insta account to see the views we received from this location... you will be taken a back (stevieexplores on insta). The rooms are modern and white, the poolside area is lovely and the food stunning.
Wake up and go for a run along the shore, have a nice breakfast, re charge by the pool and the hit the town which is only five minutes away. Such a beautiful retreat.
Staff very friendly at the restaurant.
Will be back!
This is a nice hotel. Clean, nice staff, lovely facilities and nice rooms ( each is a separate bungalow). The quality of all the fittings is very high. The bar and restaurant are thr providers of beautiful food and the Happy Hour ( two hours!!!) is great before dinner. Long views over the ocean (we didn't see Australia !!!) with fabulous sunsets were a highlight. We could also sea whales and sea lions. Mancora town is not far, about 15 minutes by motor taxi ( ie. tuk- tuk) and at the weekend is vibrant. Lots of restaurants there but no real reason to leave the hotel and pool ! All in all, a wonderful stay to relax after an hectic travelling round the Peruvian sights! One final word, the road from Piura airport is very bad and it is a 2.5 hour drive!
Very nice, clean and quiet bungalows. Staff is nice and helpful. Food is great but a little bit costly (for peru).
100% recommendation.
U can go to mancora for 10 soles with motortaxi, 10mins.
As the hotel is a little (5mins) up the hill it has a beatiful view on the ocean and sunset. U dont hear the noise from the street. 5mins to beach.
All the staff was kind and the food was great! We loved the octopus salad sooo much and the lemon base drinks that Wilmer made us. So far, the best drinks we had in Peru. The hotel is well maintained and all the staff seemed to care about the hotel. The hotel has a peaceful and calm atmosphere that if you want to relax, this is the place!
Highly recommended hotel with great service, location, rooms. We moved here after a highly disappointing and shortened stay in a different hotel (ranked undeservedly higher on Tripadvisor) - and so did some other people. All very impressive, with great views and sunsets over the ocean. It's also much quieter than other hotels due to its slightly elevated location (although still only 2-3 mins to the beach) and nicely landscaped gardens with many bird houses. The hotels right by the beach can suffer from mosquitoes/beetles/etc, not here though due to slightly elevated location and birds eating up any of them daring to come up the hill... Great breakfast, everything freshly prepared (juices, fruit salads, eggs etc), very attentive service and nicely decorated, airy and air-conditioned rooms. We visited a few places in Mancora/Las Pocitas and Villas del Mar is definitely the best option! :)
We stayed in a family villa for a week. Absolutely everything was spectacular. The villa was ample and extremely well decorated and comfortable. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced as well. Service was a tad slow at times, but always friendly and extremely professional. No complaints at all. Very highly recommended.
I stayed here for 10 days during the first part of my month long solo tour of Peru and Bolivia. I was fresh from a very stressful contract at work and just wanted to lie on a sun-lounger for 10 days without interruption.
Peru is not renowned for its beaches, however a bit of investigation showed me that the best bits are up around Mancora on the very north border with Ecuador, however a bit more investigation showed me that Mancora is primarily a party town and I didn't fancy it.
After a couple of weeks of piling back through the hotel listings on here I came across Villas del Mar. I have no idea why it is so low in the ratings, I assume because it doesn't have many reviews at the moment, because it really is a little piece of paradise.
I wanted somewhere with a pool as I don't trust the Pacific waves coming onto the beach here (heavy surf and riptides) but I also wanted a sea view. Having looked at the bungalows they are exactly as the photos show. I had lucky number 7 - every morning at 7am exactly my coffee was brought to my room (some mornings I was running and others I was just getting up).
This is a family run hotel and the owner pops in and out...in school holidays they may be up at the big house and also using the bar area. They were very kind to me whilst I was there - even inviting me up to dinner on my penultimate evening and showing me around their own home (I have to admit I was being a bit nosy).
The food is excellent, but be aware that it is Lima prices and as I wasn't very hungry and don't have a big appetite, I tended to just have breakfast and lunch and then either skip dinner in favour of Heinekens. There is a happy hour but it is not super well-advertised that it is only on certain drinks. I had assumed my beers were included but I only discovered this mid-week - however the owner advised I could have my 2 for 1 beers for the rest of the time I was there as well. I expect they will have to have shipped in a job lot upon my departure!
The pool area is lovely too - it is a kidney shape and there were never so many people that the loungers ran out. Most days I had the place to myself (after the first weekend, which was school holidays).
If you want to venture out and about, you can take a tuk tuk to Mancora, which is 3km away. I didn't bother, partly because I was exhausted and didn't want to move, and partly because I wasn't 100% sure it was safe being by myself. You don't need to worry about being safe on site, as they have 24 hour security.
The only snagette I would say is that the wifi is very, very patchy. I could rarely get it to work in my room or on my verandah, although it is pretty reliable around the pool area. When I'm by myself I do like to be online all the time as it's my only communication link with my friends and family. So hopefully the owners have got this sorted out by now.
Anyway, thank you very much for a fabulous stay all round :).
Before booking we called to ask a few questions regarding the crib for our 1 year son. The owner himself explained everything and was extremely friendly and helpful. We booked a regular villa and it was beautiful! but after the first night we were upgraded to the family villa! for free! it was a house with 3 bedrooms, living room, terrace, lovely view! The whole time the staff made us feel like home, they prepare special meals for our son (even at times when the kitchen was supposed to be close) and were always very helpful and kind.
The hotel property is beautiful and really well kept, the gardens, the pool, the common areas. We specifically were looking for a property that was not beach front to avoid our son to be at the sand the whole day and this was perfect, we spend time at the pool, at the gardens, at the house, at the beach when we wanted (they have this little car to drive you to the beach, but it is 2 minute walk anyway). I think this hotel is ideal for families with children and also for couples. Since it is above the sea level the view is spectacular. They can arrange for a masseuse to come to the hotel and also a taxi to take you or pick you up from the airport. The food was delicious! and really big portions. When we left we forgot a few things in our villa, they let us know by calling the taxi driver immediately and the owner was so kind to bring our stuff to Lima a couple of days later. We had the best time there and can´t wait to come back! The owner and his staff go beyond expected to offer a wonderful experience.
Villas del Mar was an absolutely wonderful place to stay. After spending time trekking to Machu Picchu it provided the perfect relaxation. As there are a small number of rooms it was always quiet, even around the pool. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. Finally, the individual hut-style rooms are large and spacious with a perfect view of the ocean from our king size bed.
