A wonderful choice for a relaxing family holiday with a young child
Pros:

Our main goal was to find a great hotel for us and our 2-year-old, with good food and comfortable conditions for the whole stay. Hotel Marelen turned out to be exactly that kind of place. The crowd here consists mainly of families and older guests, which sets a very pleasant, calm atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

This is genuinely the right place if you're after a quiet, relaxing holiday rather than a lively party scene — don't expect the latter here, and honestly that's a good thing. The food was truly delicious and varied. Due to a booking mix-up we ended up with two separate rooms, but the staff merged them into one without any fuss, saving us the hassle of moving luggage around — that kind of flexibility really stood out. Rooms were clean and tidy throughout. There's a sandy beach with sun loungers just nearby, plus plenty of restaurants and bars to suit any taste. The hotel has its own parking, and we'd recommend renting a car to explore the island — Navagio Beach and the Blue Caves are well worth it. A special mention goes to receptionist Maria, who was always ready to help with whatever we needed.

Worth noting separately: the hotel sits about 5 minutes from the airport, which is handy, but you will hear planes throughout the day until around 11 PM. It didn't really bother us, but it's something to keep in mind.

Cons:

Mosquito screens on the bathroom vents would be a welcome addition — at night a few mosquitoes made their way into the room, which was a minor but noticeable inconvenience. One other thing worth mentioning: island quiet hours start at 11 PM, so all live music wraps up then. Given how family-oriented the hotel is, finishing entertainment around 10 PM would make more sense — little ones are usually already asleep by that point.

Trotz etwas kühlem und windigem Wetter hatten wir einen tollen Aufenthalt!
Pros:

Frühstück war sehr gut und bietet eine große Auswahl. Wir waren Anfang Mai dort, noch sehr wenig los und eher kalt und windig. Zum Strand waren es nur wenige Gehminuten, perfekt um Muscheln zu suchen und zum Spazieren. Unterkunft und Anlage sehr schön und gepflegt. Personal war super und immer hilfsbereit. Lärm vom Flughafen war für uns nicht schlimm, nachts war es eh ruhig - das Beobachten der Flugzeuge war auch für die Kinder interessant.

Wir können das Hotel weiterempfehlen.
Pros:

Frühstück war sehr gut! Personal war sehr freundlich. Obwohl der Flughafen sehr nah ist und die Flugzeuge über das Hotel fliegt, hört man den Lärm nicht gut.

Cons:

Das Fitnessstudio ist sehr klein - es wäre besser, wenn es mehr Fotos auf der Website hätte.

Definitely not worth the money

Cons:

I was really disappointed with this hotel. Although part of it has been renovated — including our room — it’s definitely not worth the money. We paid a 4-star price for what felt like a 2- or 3-star experience. The mattress was already sunken in, and we couldn’t get a proper night’s sleep. On top of that, there was constant noise from the hotel terrace with music playing way too loud.

The staff and service were also below 4-star standards. When we called to ask for some water to be brought to the room, they told us to come down to reception ourselves — even though it was pouring rain. So apparently, there’s no room service.

The room itself was tiny and even felt a bit claustrophobic. Also, the photos on Booking are heavily filtered and edited to make the hotel look much more luxurious than it really is — the reality in person is very different.

Overall, a very disappointing and overpriced stay. If you’re a couple in your 30s just looking for a relaxing getaway, avoid this hotel.

Erste Nacht auf Zakynthos
Pros:

Die Nähe zum Kalamaki Strand...nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß. Und die Auswahl an Restaurants alle in Fußentfernung in der Nähe.

Cons:

Ein Flieger nach dem anderen der unmittelbar über die Hotelanlage fliegt und man jedes Mal fast aus dem Bett fällt.

L'emplacement : proche plage et centre ville
Piscine chaude car en plein soleil. Transats confortables et disponibles à toute heure, pas besoin de les réserver/faire la course.
Personnel du restaurant très sympa.

Cons:

La nourriture du buffet qui n'est pas au niveau d'un 4 étoiles....
L'eau qui sort des robinets est salée (gênant pour la douche ou quand on se lave les dents).
Piscine des enfants à l'ombre avec de l'eau très froide.
Jeux extérieurs vieillissant /cassés (coin ado).
