Lovely hotel with friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. The owner and whole staff made my stay extremely enjoyable, making sure Im well taken care of. I had lovely food, one of the best I've eaten in Zanzibar, tasty mocktails and a relaxing time by the pool.
In the evening, i enjoyed horse riding by the sunset. I recommend visiting Michamvi. The beach is beautiful, with a lovely sunset, music, and small shows in the evening. It is one of my favourite places in Zanzibar if you are looking for a good atmosphere and relaxation!
Wish I could stay bit longer
If you're looking to unwind, Oleza is the ideal destination. Situated in Michamvi on the serene Southeast coast of Zanzibar, it offers a tranquil atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle, perfect for relaxation.
Close to Pingwe and Paje, you'll find plenty to do while staying there. As for Oleza itself, having traveled extensively worldwide, I can confidently say that it boasts the most hospitable, accommodating, and delightful team I've encountered. Their proactive assistance exceeded my expectations, often extending help without even being prompted. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure guests have a memorable experience.
Mr. Humphrey, the charming manager, is ever eager to teacher a few Swahili phrases, while the Chef ensures your dining experience is delightful. Despite my wife's gluten intolerance, he made special efforts to prepare delicious gluten-free dishes.
At Oleza, their motto rings true: 'Arrive as a guest, depart as family.' And indeed, that's precisely how we experienced it.
Asante sana!
We spent 18 days in Oleza and loved every minute of it. We were working on laptops so what we needed was someplace quite, good WiFi, air-conditioning, a pool and food/drink. We booked a 2 bed apartment, rooms spotlessly clean, spacious, very comfortable beds and great work station. We also had outside sitting area with 4 armchairs and outside kitchen with kitchen table and chairs. We only used the fridge. Enough cooking done at home for the rest of the year! Pool was gorgeous like stepping into deep hot bath. Staff were AMAZING, each and every one of them were kind and courteous just so helpful. We miss them. Food freshly prepared and delicious. Please download Swahili to your Google translate app, the staff all have English but if you need to divert a little from the menu then please be fair to the staff as words can get misinterpreted so your request for onions might manifest as tomatoes. This I know is not really an issue but it helps everyone involved from the waiting staff to the kitchen staff. Oleza about 5 mins walk to beach, we only went once, we not beach people to be honest, we were there to work. Take a phone battery backup and keep it charged, We always carry 2 small led flashlights on hols. In Africa power outages are common. Once you leave the compound you are on a dirt track, rough terrain with a lot of potholes, so if you making your way back in the dark mind your step. Oleza have opened a brand new sister hotel on the beach. The official opening was the day before we left. It is lovely, a bigger complex with 30+ rooms, the restaurant is called Crazy Fish. I just cannot remember the correct name so I'm going to give a wild guess at Olidena. They do intend to keep Oleza open also so anyone looking for a calm oasis this is the place. 10 out of 10.
Loved everything
They had a problem with my room but they upgraded us to another hotel with sea view , staff from Oleza is very helpful/friendly.
Great staff.
Pleasant walk to the beach,
Amazing pool
Great food in restaurant
Oleza boutique offers a warm welcome and an excellent family atmosphere.
I stayed there with my whole family: a group of 17 for 2 weeks (3 generations) and everyone felt right at home.
A calm, clean environment, close to a magnificent beach. The staff and owners are very friendly and professional.
Occasional water cuts, but nothing too long!
Extremely noisy. There is a workshop, restaurant, road, taxi rank, restaurant and parking lot 5-15m away from most of the rooms. Expect to be woken up as early as 5AM and be kept up as late as 11PM by cars hooting, people shouting, children screaming and hammering/construction at all hours.
The rooms are in a state of disrepair and seem to be crawling with various insects.
There are no safes in any of the rooms and they don't let you keep your room key so expect feel very unsafe.
The pool is constantly murky and has a film on the surface of the water.
There is also no electricity or running water (which means unflushed toilets and no showers) around 30-40% of the time.
Kitchen is extremely slow with wait times of around an hour when its empty.
I also had an extremely bad experience with the owners of the hotel on several occasions.
I had notified the hotel via mail a week ahead of time that I would have 2 guest joining me and that I would be happy to pay the extra costs associated with this. I had also then spoken to the hotel owners in person as well as the manager on separate occasions when I had arrived. We were woken up by the manager knocking on the door at 11PM in the evening despite this demanding aggressively that we pay for an additional room and that we cant sleep in the same room. The hotel became very hostile (and immediately charged my card for my entire stay) after I complained about this and I eventually had to book a stay at another hotel to get away from the unpleasant environment.
There was also some very unethical behavior from the hotel once I had left Zanzibar. They had marked on my stay that I did not show up for my booking so that I would not be able to leave them a bad review and I had to contact customer service 6+ times to finally be able to leave a review. This gives me an idea that their ratings are potentially very unreliable seeing as I'm probably not the 1st person that they have done this to.
the food was really good
the staff was awesome
the mattresses need to be changed
the bath water needs to be purified
aesthetics needs to be worked on
friendly staff
my bathroom and my room wasn’t as expected

I really enjoyed that place is quiet, perfect to relax, the staff was friendly and kind the pool is nice and the breakfast and food it is amazing, the room was clean and beautiful
nothing
A great hotel for a family holiday. Feel like you're at home, silence, birdsong, rest, enjoy the 24/7 swimming pool, enjoy the best food and at the same time exciting themed evenings that the hotel restaurant offers in the evenings.
In addition, the hotel offers great trips to discover Zanzibar. As a bonus, just a super super team. The hostess Olena welcomes you like an old friend, and the rest of the staff is just great.
amazing staff and owners of the place, really helpful and great excursions, pool area is nice and food very delicious
The owners and staff were so lovely and welcoming. The breakfast was good and the whole place is clean. it was such a nice break and I would visit again. the hotel is 5 mins by car to the rock restaraunt.
