Good gym
Very tired even in the executive rooms
I liked the bedrooms the bed was good and comfortable
The spa facility were a bit dated but it did the job
The restaurant was dated and quite away from the main hotel
The key didnt work for my room multiple times and I had to change rooms becuase of the key not working.
The restaurant had sticky tables which hadn't been wiped. I ate once at the restaurant and wouldn't go back. The staff were really nice and polite. The male swimming pool changing rooms were dirty and hadn't been cleaned for a while.
Big and busy hotel with hard working staff. Had a traditional feel. looks like they have to deal with some challenging clientele? I'll definitely stay here again, the next time we are in town
Think we were in the old section. No USB points etc.
Gym, sauna, and steam
Cleaning
I stayed here for work over a few days each week for three months. The rooms varied from an OK room to a truly nice suite. The OK rooms were quiet, had accessible plugs for laptops and chargers, even if you did have to juggle a bit. Beds were comfortable and morning coffee all fine. Water temperature in all rooms, shower or bath, was spot on. Some days a deep soak in a bath was needed.
A quick walk to the bar for food, except closed on a Monday night. The quality of food was good and never went hungry. As a non-drinker there were enough choices to make a difference. Car park can get full at times, but the overspill is not a hike by any means.
On my last, longest week, I decided to go for a suite. This certainly exceeded my expectations. The desk area was more than plenty, sofas and coffee table and really pleasant bathroom.
The second time we have stayed at Sporting Lodge. Good service, food excellent.,swimming pool great. Good stopping off point on our tour around England Scotland and back to Spain. Fully recommended.
It was all basic maybe could do with a refurbishment
The toilets where out of use in the restaurant and bar area
Gym and pool facilities
The hot breakfast was not great. Their was only one sausage when I came down fro breakfast, the beans looked liked they were re-heated from last night. I ended up having a yoghurt pot instead and left.
Room was spacious and comfortable with 2 double beds, basic but cheap so I was happy enough for the price
Staff were polite but unhelpful, we were given the keys and when I asked for directions to the room was simply told round the corner, no indication on breakfast times or that is was cheaper to book in advance. Bed was too soft for me and the curtains had holes and let in a lot of light. Toilet didn’t flush properly.
The pool etc are basic and not overly clean
Not a lot
Dirty
Staff just handed the key no info about hotel and we had to walk back as card reader was broken so had to have a physical key.
Room was old and not the cleanest
