Pros:

ckean sheets , swimming pool.

Cons:

IV always liked sporting lodge it's great value but and it's a BIG BUT!, lately IV noticed that the "family room/s" have started to look a little tired.
This review is only for my latest visit I had booked a room expecting it to be a the usually 3star experience however room no. 156 is very poor it smells so bad I initially thought oh god someone has had a curry in here so I opened the window and left for a few hours ,,, I had had a 5 hour drive and went to eat on my return I was doooo tired I opened the door to be greeted by the stench that was keep me awake all night(I wish I had complained) in the morning I noticed the carpet was threadbare,it was an age that I had to wait for 'nearly' hot water, the sink plug failed to hold water, the kettle lid seemed to be jammed shut(dangerous if trying to open with hot water in it)the beds had been made badly although they where clean sheeted ,all of the above are not what I have become to expect from this hotel as I have used it for the last ten years roughly 2 or 3 times a year I shall use it again but feel they need to look after these rooms as when you have children these are basic requirements especially as I am paying the same amount as non family rooms.

Pros:

The location is ideal, staff friendly and helpful. No problems with the Breakfast, as we had breakfast with the stay.

We stay here most times we come up North to see friends, as they live 20 mins away from Hotel and we are not far from all the main routes to go further up North or south.

Cons:

The building is outdated, same with the rooms, just need a touch up and newer things. Need more plugs in the room as there is None near the beds.

Beds could be more comfortable/bigger but that is down to personal preference though.

Pros:

The room decor was quite stunning and the furniture complimented the colours perfectly. We booked the best room apparently and it was more than satisfactory.

Cons:

Sadly the towels were old and tired and one was badly stained. There were not enough cups and zero glasses.
The restaurant was poor and shabby albeit with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. It was an old barrack style block of hotel rooms rather than the lodge that the name suggests. It had industrial style staircases wh9ch need updating to make it welcoming rather than ostier.... saying all this i would stay here again

Good place to stay to explore north east England
Pros:

Good place, seems a bit dated but does the job perfectly.
The gym/spa/pool are great with good sauna and steam. Breakfast was standard with little variation but it was done well. The room / beds were standard and comfy with no faults. The pool can get a bit crowded due to the size but it feels lovely when there is sunshine as it has a big glass wall on one side.
It is situated very close to motorway so easy access. Middlesborough is close by for food options.
Good for a short stay and good for family due to Pool.
Price felt reasonable after staying.

Worth the money
Pros:

Loved the breakfast, friendly staff and wonderful spa facilities

Cons:

The food (parmesan chicken and the steak options) didn't taste good at the pub. I did find the furniture quite old but you can see It's trying to be maintained
