Good location but a very worn hotel.
Pros:

Location was ok for what we needed.

Cons:

Very dated. Sink in bathroom took forever to drain. Room decor was stuck in the 1980's. Bed was very uncomfortable. No air-flow: Window opening was very limited and the room was very warm.

Pre Great North Run stay
Pros:

Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable enough.
The rate is good considering use of the gym and pool is included.
There was a lovely free breakfast spread on for anyone running the Great North Run which was a lovely touch.

Cons:

Rooms are looking a little tired.
Car park needs resurfacing, especially now they are charging for parking.
Pillows are a bit thin, even using the extra ones.

Pros:

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights midweek in Sept 26. We enjoyed the short break very much. We had initially priced up another hotel in Middlesbrough that had similar facilities ( pool, steam room etc )and we had stayed at before but the Middlesbrough hotel was twice the price of this place. Facilities are excellent and all staff friendly. Breakfast was great with lots of options.
