Simple, but very clean and comfortable accommodations. This hotel is a short walk away from the base station of the Teleférico de Kuélap, which allows you to get an early visit to the ruins of Kuelap before the tourist buses arrive from Chachapoyas. This was a memorable experience! I had the place (nearly) to myself - amazing!

Besides the great location, JJ , the host is excellent! Very friendly and helpful. He planned a couple of wonderful day trips to various natural and archeological sites in the region.

The host is very friendly, helpful and knows a lot about the area- not only about Kuelap, but also about other places close to Nuevo Tingo, like Macro and Silic. He speaks English fluently.

We had a great time here! The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The common areas are great, and the back garden is like a peaceful oasis! Our host, JJ, was incredible! He was so welcoming and helpful during our stay, and went above and beyond our expectations. He walked us to the gondola, showed us the way to Silic, and helped us organise our night-bus to Cajamarca. The cat, Nala, is wonderful and very friendly, and loves a good chat!

Excellent customer service. JJ is an amazing host and cook. He responded promptly to all my questions during and before my stay. He even provided a packed dinner for my onward trip to Leymebamba. Hostel is very close to the cable car station. Clean and comfy rooms. I had the second room to myself since there were no other guests while I was staying. Great place for singles and couples.

Incredible kitchen with gas stove, oven, blender, and all necessary utensils.
JJ is the heart and soul of the hostel and incredibly helpful.

Very clean, close to amenities. Host was ready to help with organizing activities and even brought me on a hike to see other ruins in the area.

This place was so welcoming and chilled. It was like home from home! The owner JJ was super helpful and made the most delicious breakfast. We stayed two nights and felt very relaxed here. The veranda at the back overlooks the valley and was a great place to stargaze. Thanks for having us!

When I arrived the collectivo stopped at the property & JJ the owner was there to meet me, a great welcome & throughout my stay nothing was too much trouble, including setting up my trip to Kuélap.
The room was spacious & clean, the bed was very comfortable & I had a great nights sleep.
Plenty of hot water for showering after a hike around Kuelap.
Breakfast was delicious with lots of local produce & was different every day unlike most hostels I have stayed at.
It is great place to stay & I would definitely stay here again.

Juan Jose is the heart of Muyakuelap. Not only does he speak Spanish, French & English, but everyone knows him - & he knows everyone. He was incredible arranging transportation; pointing out best hikes; & generously providing invaluable advice for travel & exploration. The lodging is scrupulously clean. Just about every tour guide imaginable is available. There is a lovely shared kitchen opening onto gardens & spectacular mountain views. Rooms are comfortable & well-appointed. JJ thinks of all the details, leaving guides, directions & phone numbers. There is so much to do in the area. It is worth staying longer than just to tour Keulap - & definitely worth staying longer with Juan Jose. Best yet, JJ is opening a hotel entirely of his own next year. It is located steps from the cablecar to Kuelap & will feature gardens & expansive views. Not to be missed!

The host Juan José is what makes this place shine. He's likeable and really put in an effort to make us feel at home.
He will also help you organise whatever you want to do while staying with him.
The location between the town square and the cable car station (that will take you to Kuélap) is very convenient.
The rooms are small but clean and comfortable.

Great place to stay close to Kuelap !
We enjoyed very much our comfy room and the house. Warm water in the shower. Our host was helping us a lot in planning and organising.

We arrived at the eco house and immediately felt at home. The house invites you to relax and feel good and its natural construction makes it very cozy. The hostel had the best equipped kitchen on our trip. When we arrived, Jayjay gave us all the information about Nuevo Tingo and the surrounding area and then showed us the best spots for shopping and eating in the village. Jayjay helped us with every question that came up and it was not too much for him to organize and book our onward journey. We had a wonderful time in Nuevo Tingo and the 3 days we had booked turned into 5. We really enjoyed the hospitality. Our highlights were the pizza evening when Jayjay and his friend Gustavo made pizza for all of us. It was sooo delicious. And the trip to the Macro ruins that Jayjay accompanied us on. Thanks again for everything. We can highly recommend the hostel

The owner Juanjo was really social and foreseeing !
It's a cozy place, I kind of felt at home.
The showers have hot water.

-The cozy architecture of the hostel (wooden, eucalyptus aroma, no TV)
-The bathroom was quite clean!

JJ is an excellent host and made our stay memorable. He showed us around in town, shared some hikes with us, created a really nice breakfast and he even joined us to hike to Kuélap. It was great we could use the fresh organic herbs in the garden and use the rice cooker. The beds were super comfy and the shared bathroom (that was basically private as there were nog other guests) was always clean.
