The hostel is near the beach and other convenient areas, although far from the bus stations (but you have to choose, as Lima is a big city). The hostel kindly let us store our bags on the final day. The shower had hot water and no issues.
Check in was not very smooth. We arrived after a long bus ride (30 hours) and were very tired. While we informed the hostel of our arrival time, we stood outside for about 15 minutes ringing the bell. In the end, another guest let us in and only when we were inside did the hostel owner appear. Granted, it was very late at night (about 11pm) but we had been communicating in advance so that this was clear and the hostel owner mentioned check in was till 11.30pm.
Additionally, the hostel over charged. This has been mentioned in other reviews too. The cost of the hostel was 200 PEN for two nights, which was about 20 PEN more than stated on booking.com even with the service charge included. The exchange rate from USD to PEN was stated as 3.6, when in the casa de cambios nearby it was clearly 3.34 to 3.35. Even with the inflated exchange rate, the price quoted was higher than stated in booking.com. We tried to clarify, but it was so late and we were so tired that we just paid anyway, however, I do not think this was fair as the price should be clear as on the booking.com confirmation email. If the hostel wants to charge more, they should be upfront about it.
The hostel was not very clean - on two separate occasions I found dead cockroaches: one in our room, and one in the kitchen. They ran out of drinking water which was not replaced for a day. The kitchen had puddles of water on the floor (perhaps from another guest?)
Close to everything I needed, especially LarcoMar (shopping centre with restaurants) and Wong (supermarket).
It is an old house & wiFi & TV could be in better shape. The shared bathroom was very clean, but would be great to have your own. Also, keep in mind room 1 had no ceiling fan so I needed to open windows.

Our room was separated from neighbour with locked door ..the neighbours was very noisy in very late hours ( endless conversations over phone loud .. giggling and chatting until 3 am ignoring our request to shut up)..stuff instructed them next day but there isn't silent hours established In la casona ..so we didn't rest well..

Sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Wir waren zu früh und durften uns einfach im Wohnzimmer und begrüntem Innenhof erholen.
Später bekamen wir noch Hilfe bei der Taxibuchung.
lugar de estilo colonial, excelente para sentirte como si lima te invitara a conocer su historia, me gusto, lo recomiendo totalmente, me sentí como Reyes de espana durmiéndo ahi, seguramente regresare algun dia.
el tener que esperar hasta las 3pm el check in eso, obstaculizo mis planes, sin embargo, hay que anticipar con tiempo y evitar inconvenientes, no reciben targeta de credito asi que llevar efectivo, evitar inconvenientes.
la tranquilidad de la zona, opciones de lugares para comer, bancos, playa, comerciales. Las calles tranquilas pasado las 12 la noches ningún problema.
