Panos is a lovely host and could not be nicer. He picked us up from the port and dropped us back off.
He was really helpful telling us where everything was, good restaurants, bars, and was always around the hotel.
This is budget accommodation, but the rooms are very clean and tidy with bins emptied every day and fresh towels provided regularly. The air conditioning works well, and toiletries are also provided. Lovely pool area and pool, although the weather hasn't been too kind, so we didn't venture into the pool.
The old town is easy walking distance downhill with plenty of tavernas and bars by the harbour side.
The beach is also walking distance.
The port town is absolutely lovely. A large selection of hotels, restaurants, and bars for all tastes and price ranges, high-end boutiques, and souvenir shops. It's just less than a mile from the accommodation and an easy downhill walk. Be prepared for the uphill walk back. There are plenty of taxis or horse drawn carriages if needed for the short journey.
Spetses is easily accessible from Athens, Poros, and Hydra by superfast ferries.
Hire a scooter or quad bike and venture round the island. Good fun and only 25km all the way round.
Nothing, not to like. It is budget accommodation and is priced fairly.
Nice view from the room, although you couldn’t sit at the balcony because of the extreme proximity with your neighbors. The owner’s wife was trying to be helpful and his mom was nice. The transfer to and from the port was very helpful, given the bad location of the venue. We didn’t use the pool because the owner and his family were always there, but it looked nice.
Very bad location, uphill and long distance from everything. The rooms were very close together and you could hear everything from everywhere. You could see in the next room if you sat on the balcony - no privacy. Very noisy and on top of everything, the owner and his family were always hanging out at the pool (which is at the center of the hotel) shouting and and laughing loudly (the owner’s voice was constantly heard throughout our stay). Broken shower knob (very hard to turn on and off and we cut our fingers) and window (did not close), dirty sheets (stained with urine / blood), dirty utensils in the « kitchenette », no hair dryer. Only one person available to clean all the rooms so she only came on some days to provide sheets and towels. There was no extra toilet paper - just the unfinished roll from previous tenants - and we had to ask for it. They gave us 3 10ml bottles of shampoo for 3 people for 6 days. No breakfast included and very limited selection of paid breakfast, for which they did not accept credit cards. Owner was not helpful, gave us wrong directions when we asked for help and always replied «eh, you’ll manage ». We arrived late at night (10pm) and couldn’t even get a bottle of water (no complimentary water in the fridge which would have cost them 0.14 euros). At €265 / night no value for money.
Really not much! We had a room which was ill equipped and quite dirty.. with no view/ view on the wall ( though we had paid for sea/ swimming pool view)
Once arrived we were informed that should we want better, we would be welcome to say for weeks ..not mere 2 days and in any case it was the fault of booking..( my first in 15 over years of travels)
In any case, the hotel is FAR from 2 star it pretends to be
The room is sooooo basic and no window, no decoration, no 2 promised rooms ( 1st "bedroom " was in the entrance/ 2nd in kitchen/ bedroom)
2 cups were offered for 4 a ( please see photis)
And we found a dirty fridge ( photo again? )
Swimming pool not available between 3 and 5 pm ( no advance notice)
Anyway not worth it!!
Too far
Too basic for the money
Too dirty
... to avoid
Family run hotel. Very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for everything.
Lighting in bathroom was a bit dark.
