Fantastic location with a short walk to the beach and parking on site. The studio apartment had everything we needed including a well stocked kitchen for all our cooking needs.
The studio apartment needs a bit of a refresh.
Nice view from the balcony
air-conditioner was a bit loud
The room was huge. I am a solo traveler and I don't cook, but the fridge, cooktop stove, countertops, and cupboards full of dishes make the room suitable for a small group that *does* cook.
The location is great; it's a short walk to Waikiki beach, with a view of the mountains from my balcony. It's also near a mall that has a Target and a Starbucks. There's an excellent and inexpensive banh mi shop round the corner. Try the cane juice. A bus stop for public transit to other areas of Honolulu is round the corner too.
The furnishings (couch, table, beds, chairs) are a bit dated, but all are functional. The mattress was fine. WiFi, aircon, hot water all fine. I asked for quiet and got it. No doubt the solid walls helped.
I have to give a shoutout to the magnificent fully-tiled bathroom, which reminds me of a 1940's Manhattan-style apartment (this is good). The Japanese-style toilet, with detachable two-account (!) remote was a very pleasant surprise.
There are also a coffee shop and a convenience store on the premises (although you pay for convenience). There is also a big waterfall with koi fish in the open-air lobby, which seems to successfully distract children.
All in all, my week-long stay was surprisingly comfortable and stress free.
NOTE I had to mark down staff because this was a furnished apartment, and the staff didn't do anything except drop off a fresh set of towels halfway through my stay. That said, the front desk was exceptionally efficient, calling my cab to the airport, etc.
In general, the public areas (hallways, lobby) could use a refresh. Dull carpeting, some chipped paint, etc. There was also some construction going on, but at 30 floors up I didn't hear it.
Location was probably its best asset. Located on the east side of Waikiki near the Honolulu zoo, it is slightly less crazy - tourist-wise. 2 blocks from the beach. Service apartment kitchenette is stocked with liquid detergent/sponge/paper towels, (these are the little touches that matter), plus kettle, toaster oven, rice cooker, microwave and an electric range.
Balcony overlooks the mountains. We did not have the AC on during our stay as the breeze and fresh air was so much better. Free parking is a huge bonus as well (though we rented at the Enterprise that is just next to this building).
Corridor finishes are really worn, like section 8 housing. The service apartment seems to be part of Waikiki Banyan.
The front reception is for Waikiki Banyan and we had to go to 4th floor office for PonoAloha check-in which isn't very clear to locate.
The location was good
The unit needs repairs. The sliding door to the patio is broken. My mother was trapped outside for over 2 hours. The broken shower door needs to be removed/replaced. Fridge had parts falling off door, all my condiments fell out and the glass bottles broke, making a mess and costing me $50. Furniture OLD, needs replacing. Beds very HARD. 1 bottle combination shampoo/ conditioner & 1 bar soap for 4 people 4 nights.
Great location a block back from the beach. Plenty of places to find to eat within walking distance. Great having parking included. No resort fee
Apartment is dated with maintenance that needs doing. Plug items into bathroom PowerPoint and the whole things comes out of the wall when you try to unplug.
Issues with cockroaches some days (very small ones).
Booked for 3 people but only had towels for 2 when we arrived. Had to contact out of hours person to source extra towels.
The size of the apartment was sufficient for 3 adults. Close to beach and easy walking distance to shops. Free parking was an awesome bonus.
Bed and some furniture outdated. I shared a bed with my daughter and it was like sleeping in a V shape. The mattress was very outdated. The shower doesn’t work properly, either it’s hot or cold water. We decided to have a bath each day but the plug didn’t work either. Used a face washer to assist keeping the water in. Aircon needed updating as well. Didn’t cool the room down at night. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and could have used a set of clean sheets delivered during that time.
The worst part was the religious chanting that began outside the building at 7 am on some days. It went on for 30 mins! Lifts are extremely slow on the morning. We used the stairs!
Location of the room and the property, the view was amazing.
Kitchen was not cleaned properly. There were packets of bread in one of the Almirah in the Kitchen.
location awesome
bit dated the carpets , furniture and cooking utensils/ cutlery,
there was also baby cockroaches running around in the kitchen area.
Great spot. Great view of the mountains
reception hours were short
Location was good. View on 30thfloor was great.
Kitchen was bad. Couldn't open the microwave door open all way opened. Refrigerator was so noisy Couldn't hear TV. Sink in bathroom was so far off Couldn't ŵash up .
Location and view
Unfortunately there were roaches in the kitchen area of the room and it could use a little bit of TLC upkeep. The toilet seat was also broken but usable.
Hotel staff at the Marriott were on strike so loud noise day and night! The condo on the 9th floor was old needs an upgrade the tv did not work fridge rusted
Old condos lifts did not work
