Beautiful old building and location but unfortunately in need of attention- most of the furniture is worn out, fittings are broken, the bathroom needs cleaning and an overall sad feel to it. It could be a beautiful hotel but needs money spent to get it back to its glory
Gianni was very friendly, welcoming and professional. He provided exceptional services and made sure our family had a great experience.
For one of the rooms it was not cleaned properly.
We spent 14 days at the Makrinitsa Suites 1822 Hotel in the “Aura” suite.
The hotel is located in the historic center of Makrinitsa with a beautiful view of the city of Volos.
Actually I should rate this hotel with only one point (see below). But I give 9 points because Christina and Giannis (the two employees) are helpful and very service-oriented and make the stay to something special.
The breakfast they served was very varied and delicious every day. Thank you both for a wonderful vacation.
However, overall there is a need for more investment and also the impression that the business is not well organized by the owner:
- most of the furniture is very worn and would need to be replaced
- the garden was maintained by an external service provider in our presence, but the work was carried out very unprofessionally
- the property offers no shade as all the parasols are broken
- the bathroom, window shutters and wooden installations also urgently need to be renovated.
The description and pictures on the homepage do not correspond to reality at all.
We loved our stay here great location very clean comfortable fantastic breakfast cooked by the perfect host Kristina who was so lovely we were very happy
Location is one of the best I have had, with a spectacular view close to the nice restaurants, short walk. Breakfast was huge and exceptionally good.
The room was very comfortable and beautiful and very clean! The view from its balcony is exceptional!
There is not something we didn't like.
Great breakfast.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Lovely clean rooms.
Breakfast was rinse n repeat everyday..
Same menu..no variety...
First nite we arrived .. lift wasn't working..we had 4 peices of luggage.. far tooo many stairs to carry bags..safety deposit not in service..I fell down the stairs night of Aug 23 ..due to no lights on at property..I sprained and bruised my ankle..this was unacceptable ..property lacks management..bathrooms moIdy..lack of everyday proper housekeeping..would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very cute hotel, the only one in the village with an elevator - very important on the winding roads there, Kristina was sweet and upgraded us to a suite for our honeymoon
our honey We enjoyed the quiet and our nice hotel. The breakfast was excellent, we will come back here.
The sofa is slightly peeling from its skin
Amazing location - Makrinitsa was such a fantastic place to come across. Christina was very friendly and welcoming and her homemade breakfast was fantastic.
The road we chose to get there was unfortunately one that had been washed out and weather effected!! Worst road ever - BUT - There is a 'good road' make sure you take that!! You must park in the parking area for the Makrinista village then walk in on the cobbled streets to the village square and then up behind the Byzantine museum to find the accommodation. Village shopkeepers were very helpful to us - especially after our hell road drive (Waze App navigation wild goose chase).
Great view (as pretty much everywhere in that village), nice breakfast with homemade pie and jam.
Although there has been put a lot of work to renovate an old building like this, there's still room for improvement on the facilities (i.e windows insects screens) and the overall cleaning in the apartment (carpets, cutlery, ceiling corners etc). The bed sheets, towels and WC were state of the art clean and that's good!
The location and views were wonderful. Lovely toiletries and new shower with great water pressure. The hosts were really friendly and the breakfast setup was very cute. Thankfully we eat all food as we had no choice in what was put on the table. We didn’t mind at all, just a note for someone who has any allergies or dislikes to make sure they ask first. We were given an upgrade too which was so kind of them, we were more than happy with the first room we saw, in fact it looked in slightly better condition than our upgrade!
Just a little tired. Lightbulbs missing, dusty floor and dirty (or maybe just very very old) rugs. Sofa and bed both leather which had cracked and broken over time - leather cushions torn. It’s just not the greatest first impression that’s all. And nobody’s fault but we didn’t sleep much due to the people above us constantly walking around upstairs. They didn’t go to bed until 4am! It does warn you that you can hear other rooms and this is certainly not anyone’s fault. But it sounded as if upstairs were doing a full renovation project on their place and for it to go on until 4am is not fair.
