We have been staying at the Randolph on our trips to Christchurch for many years and we will continue to make the Randolph our no 1 destination when we come to Christchurch .

Trouble free, comfortable, everything we required
Pros:

Easy stroll to Merivale Mall, longer but relatively easy walk to Hagley Park and Central City, Excellent in room laundry facilities were an unexpected bonus. Staff, including housemaids were friendly and efficient

2nd floor access is the only negative - an inconsequential one - I can think of

We enjoyed our stay very much, & would definitely stay there again.
Pros:

we were happy that our request for a ground floor unit was given.
We liked the size of the unit, very spacious. It was all clean & shiny throughout, & very comfortable with everything we needed. It was very quiet, no traffic noise. Close to shops & cafes.
