Location
It was very clean and festive for the holidays
Hmmm, where to start. First of all, Amazing staff. Very very clean rooms. Exceptional room service. Breakfast delivered to the room was amazingly delicious.
We were so excited about the stay. First impressions, when we initially walked into the building we almost walked straight back out because we thought we walked into a bar/cafe. That's when an employee noticed us and guided us to the front desk. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, however the loby is a literal coffee shop, a very busy coffee shop with tables so close to the front desk area it was cramped and everyone was looking at us like we were the ones out of place. It was extremely uncomfortable.
Our family of 4 was put into what I can honestly say was THE smallest room in the hotel. Again I know there were plenty plenty plenty of empty rooms because from our small window you could see inside half of the rooms.
Again the staff were amazing but come on, a family of four with two teenage kids in the smallest room? And before you say this isn't a family hotel, IT'S right Infront of COSI we thought this would be a much more family friendly place to stay.
One of the events in the lobby had local business there and one of them had a fire outside (I'm guessing a bon fire since it was cold) which was ok but our room on the TOP floor smelt like smoke all night, how the smoke was getting into the room or the HVAC is beyond me. So if anyone from The Junto reads this for future events maybe stick to gas fire place.
The morning of check out was the same story. Coffee shop lobby packed with people just working on their laptops and staring as we made our way through the lobby/coffee shop.
I understand the vision of the hotel wanting to be "part" of the community and all and bring in business any way possible specially on off season but the lobby is way too crowded, cluttered, and overwhelming.
We used The Assembly Room for our 2 day Annual Business Planning meeting. We had a total of 15 people in there and the room worked out well.
The breakfast and lunch were great and accommodating to any dietary needs.
Both Jamie and Sahra were amazing and were available at all times and helped with anything we needed.
I would highly recommend using The Junto for any meeting needs.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The staff was absolutely wonderful. It was my husband's birthday, and they did everything they could to make it special. They upgraded our room to a City View, when we returned to the room after a night out, we found a bottle of champaign and some sweet delicacies. As we were leaving the next day, the manager stopped and asked us how his birthday was. Just so personal. We ate at the West Tavern for dinner and went to brunch at the Brass Eye. Food was excellent at both places.
I highly recommend this beautiful hotel and will definitely be returning.
Very stylish and comfortable hotel
The lobby area was always crowded
Modern new comfy hotel with great vibe - great bar and food
Everything was perfect
It was new, very modern look and feel, smelled amazing and staff was amazing.
Nothing
We couldn't be happier with the Junto. Staff at every point-valet to bartenders and everyone in between-were friendly and helpful. Food was amazing for both events. Guests are still raving about the Slider and Taco Stations. Kaitlin and Sarha guided me in planning both events. Our guests, young and old, were delighted with the views and vibe at the Brass Eye. Annika was available the night of the event for any last minute issues - there were none.
Checking in and the experience we had at the Junto was great, during the day. At night however it was a completely different story. We stayed 2 nights for our anniversary, we were welcomed and assigned a room (348), everything was going fine, albeit the room had a "smoke" smell, almost like a BBQ restaurant.
The first night, the hallways had an overwhelming smoke smell, and our room had a slightly worse smoke smell then on check-in, it didnt bother us too much and we were able to sleep that night. Fast forward to night 2, and the smoke smell was overpowering in our room so much so that we started coughing and I started getting a headache. I called down to the guest services and was told "Yes we know what that is, its the courtyard fireplace, we will see if no one is using it, and we will turn it off if so." Seeing as how we had been experiencing this from about 8 pm until about 10:15 pm, we elected to leave the hotel and drive back home.
There was a slight apology at check out but none that made amends to what we were experiencing. We were informed that at 10:45 PM they were shutting off the fireplace. Which was basically when we were checking out.
If we had been offered a room change or something similar, we might have been encouraged to stay, but there was zero mention of that.
Overall, the Junto was a great hotel, sadly though it fell short of our expectations at night that lead to us needing to leave early and head home. I had seen another reviewer complaining of smoke smell in the hotel, and I didnt take it at face value. Please I urge people to take warning of this now, if you are at all sensitive to scents, this will be an issue during the colder months. I am not sure why the hotel has not resolved this issue with their HVAC system, but I was not impressed.
Nice facility with very pleasant staff. The guest room was admirably noise proof from neighbors and hallway, high praise for that.
Housekeeping was likewise unobtrusive.
The roof top bar is worth a visit although they need to speed up the table seatings. We stood in line just to grab a stool at the bar. Vibe overall is hip and comfortable.
The bedroom was petite but functional with pillow top mattress that has seen some mileage. Zenology bath products were very nice and aromatherapy a nice addition.
Large dresser and mini fridge did the trick for a couple day visit.
I am going to ding them with three stars because the lobby is crowded with students on laptops who are not guests.
They are college kids in sweat pants, hoodies, slippers and what smells like teen spirit. Would have felt greatly out of place sitting my middle-aged butt on a sofa next to Sofie or Luca. The entire lobby feels like study hall. They need to rethink working so hard to create a vibe.
Did not eat in restaurant but a quick peruse of menu looked woefully overpriced.
The Junto is a pretty hotel downtown. Lobby is welcoming with a central fireplace. Staff friendly. Rooms are clean and functional. Hip vibe. Lobby is a cozy vibe with lots of couches & conversation areas. Long library tables with people working on laptops..,was told these are students who live nearby & enjoy the space. My only suggestion would be limit the couches for hotel guests. We couldn't find a couch that didn't have a student with laptop sprawled out like they were back home. We ended up taking our drinks upstairs to our room.
The Junto deserves the highest praise -- especially for its service. The staff was exceptional and made us feel very welcome through our entire visit.
Excellent hotel and customer service. Great location and amazing staff and amenities. Modern and spacious suites!!!
Emilio was very friendly and responsive. He really appreciate the hospitality and level of service he provided my whole group.
I participated in an event that took place in the roof top bar and meeting space. There was great service and food. A special call out to the valet team of Kieran, Alex and Emilie - they were very fast and professional.
I held a business meeting in The Junto's Assembly room. It was the perfect space for our meeting, and the team there was great. I would definitely recommend it as a venue for business events. I also stayed at the hotel during my work trip. The hotel is a lot fun and very unique. I highly recommend staying there, too!
We had a dinner for 27 people and every person had nothing but great things to say. From the family style pre-set dinner menu, to the custom personalized cocktail options, to the printed personal menus that were at every seat, it was all fabulous. The servers and bartenders were on top of their game and provided a quality experience for our group and the overall vibe of the restaurant is unmatched. As an event planner, I was very impressed and appreciative of the communication from start to finish. 10/10
The hotel itself is very trendy and in a great location.
BUT, we were given room 733 which we were to discover was below the roof top bar. Consequently from 5pm onwards all we could hear was scraping off chairs, banging doors and general people moving. This went on until 11.30 p/m for 2 nights culminating on the 3rd night with even more noise. I complained to the front desk manager and he was profusely sorry and offered me a reduction to my bill, which I was initially happy about , but 4 weeks later I am still awaiting my refund. I have emailed him and the hotel manager but to no avail.
OUT OF SITE OUT OF MIND and full of empty promises.
Also at breakfast there are hardly any empty seats as they are taken up by students from the nearby university on computers with one cup of coffee, excuse me non paying guests. Something sadly wrong with their priorities.
