The hotel's location is definitely one of its strongest points. It is very conveniently located close to the harbour and the historic centre of Poreč, as well as the bus station and pretty much everything you may need during your stay. From a location perspective, it is hard to ask for more.
The hotel itself is modern and much larger than it appears from the outside. The breakfast was good overall, with a reasonable selection of options. Nothing particularly exceptional, but perfectly adequate for a tourist hotel. A particularly nice touch was being able to have breakfast on the outdoor terrace overlooking the harbour.
The check-in issue was also ultimately just a communication misunderstanding. When I arrived, I already knew that my room was not ready, so I had no problem leaving my luggage at reception. The first receptionist told me that I could come back at 1:00 PM to check in. When I returned shortly after 1:00 PM, however, a different receptionist told me that check-in was at 2:00 PM. I understand that this was simply a communication issue, as we were speaking English rather than Croatian, but it would have been better if the information had been consistent.
Unfortunately, my overall experience did not quite live up to my expectations.
I was travelling alone, so the size of the room itself was not a major issue, but I was given an attic room with very low ceilings around the bed. I had to be careful not to hit my head every time I got up. There was also only one Velux window, with no other windows or balcony, which made the room feel rather enclosed.
The biggest issue for me was the lack of soundproofing, particularly towards the corridor. Even normal conversations taking place outside the room could be heard extremely clearly, almost as if the people were inside the room. This significantly affected the feeling of privacy and comfort, especially during the evening and early morning. In my opinion, this is something that could and should be improved.
Cleanliness could also have been better. I noticed a few stains on the bed and found several hairs that were clearly not mine. I don't make a big issue out of finding the occasional stray hair, but in this case there were enough signs to make me feel that the room had not been cleaned as thoroughly as it should have been.
Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it, especially its excellent location and modern appearance. Unfortunately, the room, poor soundproofing and cleanliness issues made the stay less comfortable than I had hoped. Given the location, I think this could be an excellent property with some improvements to the rooms and housekeeping.
