We had a bit of a “love-hate” relationship with this hotel.
Let’s start with the highlights: the pool and sauna are absolutely fantastic, especially with that mountain view—easily the best place to relax after a long day. The in-room coffee was also a very nice touch (and much appreciated in the morning). Breakfast was solid too… although the price made it feel like it came with a side of fine dining expectations.
Now, onto the more “memorable” parts of the stay.
The bed and pillows could definitely use an upgrade—comfort matters, especially when you’re trying to recover from a day outdoors. But the real star of the night was the AC unit. I’m not saying there’s a jet engine installed in every room… but I’m also not not saying that. It was impressively loud—so much so that sleep became more of a “light dozing experiment.”
To their credit, the hosts were incredibly kind and responsive. They suggested turning off the AC and provided a space heater, which helped with the noise (thank you for that!). Though if I may suggest—an oil heater might be a quieter long-term solution.
Staff is friendly and exceptional. Resturant food and service was great. Coffee shop and pastries were very good. Hot pools and sauna were great. Parking was free and conveniently located. Free bus stop for around town travel located right across the street (hotel provided free bus passes). Free bus to Lake Louise Ski Area conveniently located 1/2 block away. I will stay here again.
Price could have been a bit better.
New hotel, details well thought through with great coffee tea making in room. Really large room, loads space, nice shower room (and products) also fireplace and large balcony. Use of ski locker good . Sudden Sally cafe in lobby area is a bonus. Also, use of hot pools, sauna on roof with great views.
This hotel is the furthest out of Banff Ave, but you get bus tickets for reliable bus service. And it's not a large place to walk around.
Great location and the staff was amazing! The views and the spa area are an added plus. Ample parking. The on site restaurant was delicious and the Biscoff Latte was excellent.
A great hotel. I loved the design including the log fire in my room. I stayed at the Otter next door during the summer and knew I’d like the Canoe too.
The property overall was very clean, cozy, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. I especially loved the hot pool. The on-site restaurant was also very good, with delicious food.
A bit far from the center
Nice, attractive rooms. Comfy beds. Balcony with Mountain View’s was great.
The view, The staff, The Location
Nothing
The Canoe was a really wonderful stay. We got a mountain view room and it was wonderful, with good views. The hotel is on the first stop for ski shuttle buses to Lake Louise and Sunshine, so that was super helpful, since the buses fill quickly. Staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful.
Nothing really, although the food at the restaurant at the Otter Hotel next door (same outfit runs both) was bit better.
