Have used the hotel twice now for their sunbeds…. They have a good deal on their beach beds for non-residents- could do with some new ones mind- €20 for the day but you get a voucher for use in the hotel to compensate- nice idea. 1st day I used the restaurant bar and all went well… but today the beach bar was another story - prices added up wrong to ‘cream off ‘ some of the voucher and short measures that would quickly amount to a small profit, plus over charged when went for a last drink - €12 for a short beer and a fanta…. When questioned the staff became quite aggressive and as I’m on holiday I’m not my usual confrontational self…. Felt very ripped off, which I didn’t on the 1st visit , and will not be returning…. My advice use the restaurant bar! Or one of the many many alternatives
The Staff is very helpful & friendly. The hotel room we had have a hard bed, the shower is bad, the toilet is too high ( suitable for people who are 6 foot tall & over ), you only get shower/hair soap once during the arrival but it's so small suitable for only one person. No hairdryer. We stayed there for 1 week but you get fresh towels & sheets 3 x including the arrival day. We didn't like the food so much out of 10 points i will give only 5 points. You only get 1 glass of wine or 1 glass of beer or 1 glass of soda --->
That't it !!!
We paid all inclusive but the buffet is close every Thursday & Saturday so you have to eat at the restaurant & pay extra.
Great location next to the beach. Very clean.
Room - superior with 2 rooms - equipped kitchen, sofas, table and chairs, not much space for clothes, good bed, large but empty terrace, small Android TV, air conditioner (bedroom free, living room for extra cost), no shower gel.
Staff - restaurant staff was very friendly and professional. Reception staff on the other hand could be more friendly.
Breakfast - good options, some variety on different days, only orange juice, tastes are fine.
"Holiday inclusive" - can choose lunch and dinner from menu, good options, salad buffet. One glass of wine or beer included. I recommend!
Cocktails in the bar are not so good. Pool area is very busy. Beach chairs on the beach for extra cost.
Small supermarket in the same building.
Overall experience 3,5/5.
A perfect hotel in a perfect place!
We had the pleasure of spending again two weeks in Alexandra for the third time and were more than pleased about the visit altogether. Definitely the place to stay for us!
Alexandra is a very beautiful hotel, one of the best if not THE best on the beachfront of Agia Marina. The architecture is fantastic: pleasing to the eye and inspirational, all areas in good condition and very well kept. The pool area is spacious and the pools are large enough for both children and adults.
One of the great aspects about Alexandra is the perfect location. Agia Marina is peaceful and quiet. Not very much shops or nightlife, but with some very good restaurants. Perfect for families! If you want more late night "action", you can very easily get into both Chania and Platanias. The bus into Chania or Platanias cost 2€ per person or you can walk to Platanias or take a taxi (8-10€). Note: if you go with bus to Chania, at about 5-6 PM they can be really crowded! The bus stop to Chania is just on the other side of the road opposite the hotel and the stop to Platanias direction is in front of the main entrance.
Alexandra's beach is in our opinion the best in Agia Marina, shallow, sandy and perfect for all ages. There are enough sunbeds on the beach and the service works like a dream. In addition to swimming the beach is nice for walks or jogging and there are several beach bars nearby. The small fishes in the sea are extra friendly and nice to watch. (The only slightly annoying thing on the beach are some of the massagists, who offer their services sometimes even too actively, but this "problem" applies to every hotel on the whole beachfront and one gets used to it.)
Rooms are spacious, well equipped and in a very good condition - some are recently renovated. They are quiet, no disturbing noises from neighboring rooms. Beds are hard enough, the bathrooms perfectly clean. Very comfortable rooms. AC works well and the reception responds quickly to any problems about the rooms.
In our experience WIFI worked perfectly in the room and quite well in the pool area and even on the beach.
The service is magnificent in every single place in the hotel!! Every person of the staff is helpful and always greets you with a smile and the atmosphere is very friendly, relaxing and safe. Reception works perfectly and friendly and they are very ready to help in anything you need. Maids are like angels and keep the places spotlessly clean.
Breakfast is very good. It is served in a very nice restaurant with a great patio and view to the sea. There is much to choose from, and the variety is IMHO much better than average. And the service here too could not be better.
There is a good shop in the hotel and as a guest you get a small discount. The service in the shop is friendly as well.
In conclusion Alexandra Beach Hotel is a real gem!! After three visits I can honestly say that everything works just like a dream, like it should and it's a perfect hotel to spend a good and relaxing holiday. Truly recommended and we will most certainly return again!
2 adults and 2 children in a double room. Only air con in one room turned on. You need to pay extra for turning on the other air con in room 2.
Additionally there is not enough sun-beds around the pool - hence a rally starts every morning to get a sun-bed. For these reasons I’ll never stay in this Hotel again.
40 steps up to our room we drag our bags after a long flight ,there should be a lift , no one to help you. restaurant is a disaster . The girl at the breakfast was rude accusing us of not paying for it ,i said we checked in last night and we paid for the breakfast she continued with her questions in the middle of the restaurant while everyone was looking at us ,i was so embarrassed, she apologized later but it was too late,
2-room superior facing the sea, should have been renovated in 2023/2024 according to Ving. I feel a little incomprehensible about this in this room. Not much was renovated.
Booked facing the sea, got a room in an alley with a certain view of the sea. Some road noise.
Have to pay extra for air conditioning in the living room where the children sleep. Should be included when paying for guests staying there.
The breakfast is quite decent, no more. Fruit juice does not taste good. Should have thought they had better juice in Crete.
Far too few sunbeds, so the towel mafia strikes here.
We have given up on getting a sunbed, we having been recommended by the hotel to lie on the beach below due to the lack of sunbeds. There we have to pay 7-8 EURO extra to the hotel, which is unable to arrange enough sunbeds for its guests.
Spa bath is closed. Could be a nice place for children who want to swim in the shade during the day.
No life at the pool and bar in the evening. Located right by the beach which is good.
Decent week's stay, but probably won't stay here next time.
Nice location on the beach and a nice pool but not enough sunbeds. Absolutely dreadful with people up before 7am to claim sundbeds. And the staff removing towels if you step away for breakfast for 20 minutes.
No good shops in the area, only tourist traps along a highly trafficed road outside the hotel.
The restaurant is not recommended. The Greek evening had nice music and dancers but the food was cold.
Nice cleaning of the rooms.
