The Excelsis is one of the best value for money offers in Kampala.
The hotel is strategically located near the Northern Bypass, which makes it a practical option if you are traveling towards Jinja or Entebbe and want to avoid the dreadful Kampala traffic.
Although small, the hotel has done a great job in fitting a restaurant, a car park, a bar and a nice garden in the inner courtyard. The bar and restaurant do play music during the day, but the hotel is quiet at night.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and well-maintained, with spacious bathrooms and a small terrace. The AC works well and the TV has plenty of channels.
The staff is professional and attentive, and the food at the restaurant is good.
The fact that the hotel is close to the Northern Bypass can make the facilities a bit noisy during the day, especially when there’s no music playing and you hear the constant background of cars. Windows are not sealed on the top, which lets some noise creep in during the day.
The kettle in our room short-circuited when we tried to plug it in.
Breakfast could be improved with some fruit selection.

I had a wonderful stay at Excelsis Garden Hotel. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable, and everything is well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything you need.
One of the best parts of this hotel is its beautiful garden. It truly feels like a peaceful hidden oasis in the middle of the city’s chaos — a perfect place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
I also had the chance to meet the owner, Mr. Richard, who was very welcoming, kind, and hospitable. His positive attitude and attention to guests really make the experience even better.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city. I would definitely stay here again.

Mein Zimmer war groß und komfortabel
The stay at Excelsis was excellent. The staff were so accommodating and eager to make the stay comfortable. The food was good, I recommend their chicken fried rice. Breakfast was well prepared as I ordered off the menu, the Spanish omelette was magnificent. All in all a great first stay. Keep up the great work.
This hotel is better than I expected, specially I could walk to Bahai's house of worship.

Generally I liked the place. in the garden it is quiet and nice to sit and have a beer. The second room (standard towards garden) i was in was also good from its size and the quietness.
I started up with the single room and it was on the road side. It is really too loud. It is alor really a bit cramped (small). I paid locally extra to be transferred to the garden-side standard-room.
What also is almost a deal-breaker for me when i return is that there was no proper coffee for breakfast. only instant coffee. I will check next time before i come if they did not fix the coffee machine i will not come.

we wanted to have breakfast at 7AM, but nothing was prepared, we had to ask for it several times
