The room we booked was spacious and the staff were good
The hotel closed the pool for routine maintenance and failed to let us know in advance to give us the opportunity to cancel the hotel and find something else that covered our needs. We didn’t find out till we had booked into our room and unpacked. We were given the opportunity to cancel but there was nothing suitable for us at just short notice. I spoke to the manager about sorting this out amicably, a reasonable discount would be acceptable and at least their room would not be empty and we would not lose another days holiday moving. I strongly pointed out that to do this amicably was the best option, I would not complain about the closing of the pool, just say all problems were sorted out properly. I asked for a 25 percent discount which I felt was fair. The pool was one of the main reasons we picked the hotel plus the fact it was a family run establishment and we expected much better treatment regarding the loss of the pool. Before actually giving us a discount, the hotel were more bothered about how much they would be paying booking.com. Hotel policy gave us the impression that they wanted as much from the guests as possible. An extra slice of toast was chargeable, an extra hash brown was chargeable, all services had a compulsory service charge. To get my extra toast free I had to supply the bread myself and the kitchen staff toasted it for me. I also had to supply my own jam and butter. Even though room was ok, I had to fix the shower back onto the wall, the shower heads both had to be cleaned for them to work efficiently, which I had to do myself. There was an electrical wire hanging from the mirror in the bathroom. The worktop hob in the kitchen was fitted the wrong way round and all instructions were upside down, this was changed when I pointed this out. The fridge top surface needed to be cleaned and it was obvious the fridge had not been moved out for cleaning due to the old dusty cobwebs that were visible on the sides.

The prices for lunch and dinner was a bit much but it's ok I guess if you're tourist that's not keen on what you spend
The staff, cleanliness, spacious rooms, rooftop pool and the lovely buffet breakfast. The location was near the town center. The hotel was quiet despite being on the main road. It was cozy and felt very private and safe.
There was nothing to dislike
The Sago hotel is a place that you fall in love with. The reception staff are friendly and make sure you are comfortable. There is a vibe of a family atmosphere at the hotel. The rooms are very clean and modern. The cleaners are friendly and do a great job. We had breakfast each morning, with a choice of Jamaican cuisine or various other things like omelets with different meat or vegan options. The hotel had a swimming pool, a gym and a health spa. The location is around the corner from the beach and the main life of Ocho Rios. I would recommend this hotel to anyone... 15/10
The only negative was there wasnt a balcony on the ground floor room.

The location was OK, near several restaurants and one of the main beaches. Both the common areas and the room were clean and pleasantly decorated. The room was very large, comfortably furnished and well lit, allowing to read in bed; the bathroom was large enough. There were many options for breackfast, also for vegetarians and vegans. The staff members were professional and very kind, especially the tall young lady who works in the reception during the day.
The swimming pool did not seem to me clean enough and it lacks areas in the shadow. The lights in the batroom do not allow to see your face properly, something that did not bother me too much, but may be unconvenient for shaving or for applying make up.
