Enjoyable would book again
Pros:

The wonderful staff. Their patience
The retro touches … ice cream area in the foyer.
The old fashioned clock in the room the view from our balcony and the very Japanese tea cups
The breakfast and the authentic Japanese dinner
The free car parking onsite

The property is old but we knew that before booking but not everything can be brand new and it not always a good thing

Comfortable stay by the water
Pros:

The view of the channel and bridge were exceptional. I liked that each room had its own balcony, which lets you bring the outside into the comfort of the room.

The rooms were honestly quite basic, but they were large and had all the amenities that we needed including even slippers, muscle massaging tool etc. The hotel has a public bath, for those wanting a warm soak.

We drove and so it was easy for us to get there. But if you don't drive, I imagine it may be difficult to get there.

Hotel breakfast was Japanese style. And I thought it was just alright.

The staff were honestly surprising. It wasn't a big luxury chain hotel, but the front desk staff made an effort to speak in English with us. We appreciated it.

Great hotel with a view of Kanmon bridge
Pros:

Hotel was located on a hill with a magnificent view of the beautiful Kanmon bridge. The room, though dated, was large and clean. The beds were large and comfortable.
From the room's balcony, you could see the sun rise.
The hotel's breakfast was good. Highly recommended.

Great location to watch the extensive ship traffic
Pros:

An outstanding view of the straits and the bridge to Kyushu.

Cons:

There are two sides to the same facility, one for the hotel and one for the spa (onsen), and people can stay in both. I arrived after dark, and initially drove around to the spa side, before they directed me around to the hotel on the opposite end.
