Beautiful grounds
Pros:

Simpson’s Forest is a truly peaceful and beautiful retreat just outside Kandy. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush greenery and a sense of calm everywhere you look. One of the highlights is the wonderful pool, perfectly positioned to overlook the stunning surrounding vistas—an ideal place to relax and take in the scenery. The entire property feels thoughtfully cared for, making it a lovely escape for anyone looking to enjoy nature, comfort, and tranquility in a beautiful setting.

Cons:

The hotel was not full during our stay, so it was surprising that we were placed in a room with neighbors on both sides. Unfortunately, the walls are quite thin, and we could clearly hear conversations and noise from adjacent rooms, which affected the overall comfort of our stay. A little more spacing between occupied rooms when availability allows would greatly improve the guest experience. Aside from that, the property itself was enjoyable.

Good place to stay!
Pros:

Area of the hotel is very beautiful. We enjoyed the morning walk. Dinner buffet wasn’t too expensive (6000), breakfast also (500). We thought that the hotel being in remote area will charge very high prices as you dont have much choice arround, but no :)

Dinner buffet had good choices, everything tasty.

Cons:

There was a party next door to our room - which was first loud in the garden and then they walk us up at night. Hotel handled it ok, offered to move us (we didn’t bother because it was late already) and then gave us breakfast for free.

Pros:

Simply beautiful surroundings and views. The room was absolutely lovely. The food was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. The infinity was fab…we watched the sunset from the pool - magical!

A wonderful property in the midst of nature but not woth the money from the facilities point of view
Pros:

The plus point of this properting is the location if you like to be in the midst of nature . The staff was also excellent and was very happy to attend our personilised needs

Cons:

Except the location and the staff every thing else is average or below average . Considering this aspect its not worth the money . The furniture was damaged , the items lilke the slippers were substandard

We really enjoyed our stay at Simpson's Forest and we hope to be back again one day:)
Pros:

Everything about this property from the location to the facilities and the food was excellent. It's the perfect place for a relaxing and quiet stay!

Shane and Hansi at the reception desk were super helpful. We also enjoyed the nature walk around the property with Sandun who had very good knowledge about the local flora and fauna.

Special mention to the staff members Wasantha, Dilshan and Gunesekera for their excellent service.

Pros:

Het resort zelf was in goede staat en heeft veel faciliteiten. Ik was ook erg tevreden met al het personeel. Vooral Imalka uit het restaurant deed erg haar best om ons een goed ervaring te geven.

Location of the resort: away from the city crowd. Full of greenery. Perfect hideout for nature lovers.
Courteous staff . The sunset watch from the infiinity pool is something to die for. The well equipped Gym is an additional bonus for fitness freaks. The morning walk inside the property through the tea plantation is prodiguous. The restaurant is cosy and offers the right kind of balance between local and continental food. One must taste the Simpson's cocktail made from local arrack.

Cons:

Leeches, probably need to adjust with them given the nature of the accommodation. The property is a bit far from the Kandy town, but who cares. The resort has so much to offer inside that you forget thinking about getting out of it.

Where Nature Meets Exceptional People
Pros:

We started our journey in Sri Lanka with four nights at Simpson’s Forest, and it was an excellent choice. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful, but what truly sets this place apart is the kindness and warmth of the people.

The location feels like a dream — the buildings are seamlessly integrated into the lush jungle and tea plantations, creating a peaceful and immersive natural environment. The pool is perched on a higher hill, offering breathtaking 360-degree views over the surrounding mountains. Our room was spacious, spotless, and featured a lovely private patio with a stunning view.

The restaurant food was also excellent, with a wide variety of options to suit all tastes, including both international cuisine and traditional Sri Lankan dishes.

We had the pleasure of doing a cooking class with Lakshman, Friante, and Heshan, and the experience was outstanding — professional, warm, fun, and incredibly well organized. The service throughout the hotel was exceptional, with every staff member being helpful, kind, and genuinely welcoming.

Each morning, there is a complimentary guided walk around the grounds with Gunee, the resident naturalist, which was a beautiful and peaceful experience. The housekeeping team also deserves special praise — our room was cleaned perfectly every day, and they left lovely decorative arrangements on the bed that made us smile each time we returned.

A very special thank you to Manoj Tharaka for making our stay even more memorable.

We truly recommend this piece of paradise, tucked away from the bustle of Kandy. It is a true oasis of tranquility, beauty, and heartfelt hospitality.

Cons:

Consider adding some kind of curtain for the door to the room as there was light coming in at night through the window panes on the door. It might be hard for some people to sleep if there is no total darkness.

Relaxing spot in Kandy
Pros:

It was a nice resort in greenery with spacious rooms, relaxing pool and garden area. It is a perfect spot to chill and be away from the craziness of Kandy.

Cons:

Could be better if it was clear whether breakfast and/or dinner would be open buffet or a la carte. It was confusing for us what to expect each day.
