Fint, fräscht och trevligt
Pros:

Ett jättefint och fräscht ställe. Vi var dock på bröllop på annan plats och spenderade inte så mycket tid på själva Arken.
Välstädat och snyggt.

Cons:

Ganska små rum, men det funkade för en natt. Det var mycket svårt att få tag på taxi, vilket vi tolkade berodde på läget.

We stayed at Arken Hotel & Art Garden Spa for two nights (3–5 July). The only reason we booked this hotel was that almost every hotel in Gothenburg was sold out due to the large concert that weekend.

The hotel’s name and photos gave the impression of a peaceful hotel in a pleasant setting. In reality, it is located in the middle of Gothenburg’s industrial port area, surrounded by container terminals, cargo facilities and oil terminals. There is nowhere to walk nearby, and getting to the city centre takes around 50 minutes by public transport. Even by car, the journey was longer than expected due to extensive summer roadworks.

The hotel itself looks fine, but our room was extremely small. The bed occupied most of the room, leaving very little space to move around. Our suitcase had to stay by the entrance because there was simply nowhere else to put it. The bathroom was also tiny. The whole room felt more like a compact cabin on a ferry than a hotel room.

The biggest disappointment was the bed. It was completely worn out and should have been replaced years ago. The mattress had collapsed in the middle, causing both of us to roll together throughout the night. It was by far one of the most uncomfortable hotel beds we’ve experienced.

I reported the problem after the first night, but the response from reception was disappointing. There was little interest in resolving the issue or even acknowledging the complaint.

Breakfast was perfectly ordinary—nothing memorable, but nothing particularly bad either.

Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel. Unless you specifically need to stay in the port area or want to use the spa facilities, I believe there are far better options in and around Gothenburg.

Pros:

Bubbelpoolen var trevlig och mörkertalet med vattensängarna på Spat var behagligt.

Cons:

Det minsta rum vi någonsin bott i, reste med hund och barn. Fick knappt plats att vända oss om i rummet. Bara ett täcke som inte räckte för två personer. Kändes mörkt och instängt. Väldigt litet badrum. Det fanns mkt att välja på vid frukosten men inget smakade gott utom äggröran.
