Disappointed.
Pros:

It’s location at old ancient city, good value if you prefer to explore ancient city.

Cons:

I had a disappointing experience with the service at this hotel, particularly during check-out. I arrived at the check-out area at 8.27am and informed a staff member in a black shirt that I needed assistance with my luggage to the entrance at 8.30am.Although he initially agreed, he became preoccupied with other guests and left me waiting.
Shortly after, another staff member in a light green shirt arrived and immediately assisted other tourists, while I was still left unattended. The first staff member eventually returned and told me, “Let’s go,” but there was confusion about my luggage being in a different vehicle. Instead of resolving the issue, he walked off and later came back only to say goodbye, without actually helping.

To make matters worse, another staff member wearing glasses approached me abruptly and complained that it was already 8:35 AM, accusing me of being late despite the fact that I had been there earlier and was waiting for assistance. His tone was rude and dismissive. I tried to explain the situation and even pointed out the staff member I had spoken to, but it was clear he had no interest in listening.I understand that language barriers can happen, but this felt more like a lack of care and basic respect toward guests. This same staff member was also present during check-in, which suggests a consistent issue with attitude rather than a one-off misunderstanding.
Overall, the experience left a very negative impression. When you pay for a hotel stay, you expect a certain level of professionalism and courtesy—especially in simple situations like check-out assistance. Unfortunately, that standard was not met.

Guests have to rely entirely on stairs, which can be very inconvenient if you’re traveling with luggage. I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel if you have heavy bags or mobility concerns, as it may not be suitable for elderly guests or anyone who struggles with stairs.

Wonderful
Pros:

Charming hotel in a great location. A staff member meets you at South Gate with a trolley so you don't need to struggle with your bags over the cobbled streets. Without this I think it would be quite hard to find. The staff are wonderful particulary Joye who was suoer helpful with tickets to various sites etc. you simply MUST go to the Impressions show, about an hour away from Lijiang. It's spectacular. Joye even cooked dinner for us one night - great cook! we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend

Die Lage ist perfekt. Das Guesthouse ruhig und der Besitzer sehr hilfreich.

Pros:

Het personeel is enorm behulpzaam en regelt alles voor je.. De ligging is ook perfect in het oude centrum. De kamers zijn mooi ingericht met een groot bed en een luxe badkamer. Perfect verblijf!

Cons:

Bij aankomst vonden we de kamer niet echt schoon. Er lagen nog sokken van de vorige bewoners en het toilet zag er wat smoezelig uit.

Amazing stay in Lijiang
Pros:

It was an amazing stay and I loved everything. First I have to thank Joye for being super nice and helpful, he was in touch before I arrive and managed to book for me tour and sort everything to make my stay wonderful. The hotel is located in the middle of the old town in a beautiful old Chinese house, I loved my room with the spa bathtub, it was like going back in time to live a Chinese’s dynasty. Joye spoke excellent English and his assistant was nice enough to pick me and my luggage from the South Gate to to the hotel, they were doing everything to make my stay comfortable. Joye also booked for me jade snow mountain tour and recommended amazing restaurants. Thank you for all the help, highly recommend this place :)
