Quirky little hotel on the river with a nice balcony and a good restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful.
A strong smell from the bathroom drains spoiled what would have been a very nice stay.
Beautiful decor. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Delicious food . Great ambience.
Short stay. 1 night not enough
The refrigerator was properly cold, which was very helpful in Egypt’s climate.
All the staff were extremely warm and kind. They even prepared a special bed decoration for us, which made our stay feel very special.
They kindly helped us plan and arrange parts of our trip during our stay. Communication via WhatsApp before arrival and throughout our stay was very smooth and reassuring.
We also booked the Abu Simbel tour through the hotel. They prepared a breakfast/lunch box for our early departure and even drove us to the shared car meeting point, which we really appreciated.
When we told them our schedule in Aswan, they suggested additional ideas to help us make the most of our time. Thanks to their thoughtful advice, we had a truly wonderful experience.
There is also a restaurant upstairs — the food was delicious and it was a great place to relax.
The view is absolutely stunning, right in front of the Nile River.
Since the hotel is located along the river, there were quite a few mosquitoes.
There were no toothbrushes provided.
There were no slippers provided in the room.
Balcony on nile. Comfortable bed. Staff had a lovley cake ready for us for our anniversary
Cushions on balcony have bird poo all over them. If you are wanting some quiet on the Nile this is not a place to stay. There are hundreds of boars that ferry tourists over to Nubian village and the Port is rite next door. The boats have very loud music going , and they slow down rite outside your veranda, so no privacy. There is no TV, no hair dryer.
The floor inside room near veranda had bird poo on it. Internet is terribly slow. This was relayed back to them and we were told it was because we were on the veranda. This should not make any difference, but even in the room it was atrocious. The continuous noise from the boat music, which their parking area was rite next to unit was so loud. We asked the manager if we could change rooms, but were booked out. He said that they will be all gone after 7pm, that is not the case as they still run till 12am. They are not as many by then. Buy it still is frustrating when you are trying to sleep and you have a boat pass by on meters away with their music blaring.
We went to dinner there, and waited 1 hour to get our dinner. There were only 2 groups there us and a group of 6. Even our drinks never came out, and we asked if we could have our 2 Pepsi cans. The reply was , oh. Do you want them now. 🤔
The road getting to it was terrible..
I definitely do not recommend staying on this side of river. Save your money and stay on the city side.
We loved the friendly staff, food, and location
Room was a bit basic
Dolty Kato Nubian House is vibrant, colorful, and genuinely beautiful and the décor and ambience are a big part of what attracted us, and it fully lived up to expectations. We stayed as a family (me, my wife, and our 6-year-old) and the staff were consistently helpful and courteous.
A special mention to Ms. Somaya for how she handled our arrival day. Our flight from Cairo was delayed by around 2.5 hours, which clashed with a planned guided tour. We arrived tired and with a hungry child, and I was struggling to coordinate with the tour operator and decide what to order. Somaya quickly contacted the operator, explained our situation in Arabic, and helped us order the right dishes and managed the whole situation calmly and efficiently, and it genuinely saved our day (A big shout out!!)
The room was very clean and comfortable, service was spot on, and the restaurant views are excellent. Dinner was a highlight—eating on the banks of the Nile with truly delicious food and unique flavors was memorable (milder on spice compared to an Indian palate, but still fantastic). The hotel also offers tours and activities that looked well-priced, though we had already pre-booked ours.
Getting to Nubian Village involves a narrow, bumpy, untarred stretch (typically by boat or open tuk-tuk). We enjoyed the semi off-road experience and our son loved it, but it may be uncomfortable for older guests or anyone with mobility concerns. Also, the souvenir/spice shops outside can start with very inflated prices—bargaining is essential.
The view of the Nile
Our stay started off on the wrong foot and only got worse. The reservation manager was shockingly unprofessional—he failed to communicate our booking to the actual manager, leaving us stranded until 5:30 PM before we could check in, even after we offered to pay extra just to speed things up.
We had booked a deluxe double Nile view room, but what we got was far from deluxe. Instead, we were handed a dirty room with a Nile view that barely made up for the filth and disappointment. It felt like a bait-and-switch, and the staff didn’t seem to care.
Would not recommend. There are plenty of places along the Nile that actually respect their guests and honor their bookings.
