We had a superb break with good food and amazing views.

Cons:

The room was fine but nothing special considering the price.

Beautiful location, historic backdrop, great food but let down by poor service so wouldn’t return
Pros:

Beautiful location and surroundings, like going back in time! Very dog friendly and easy to come and go as you liked. Food was also very tasty throughout. Complimentary cookies were a nice touch.

Cons:

For the price I would have expected service to be of a high level. Unfortunately on a Sunday morning we experienced very poor service and a lack of care. The team appeared poorly trained with little motivation for what they were doing. We had to ask for menus and mugs for tea, the table was dirty, no salt and pepper or butter on the tables. At one point there were 6 tables and 6 staff members but every table had dirty plates on it as no staff wanted to collect them. Often the team were stood at the reception chatting or on phones rather than setting up new tables or clearing finished plates. A duty manager giving clear tasks was missing and this meant double the work could have been done by half the people if they wanted to do the tougher bits of the waiting job. A shame for a seemingly high end location to have so many staff all poorly trained. Everyone at breakfast was unhappy with the service, so much so that one complained and they were offered pastries from a basket but everyone else was ignored.

Overall was ok, not cheap but location and service were excellent.
Pros:

The staff were all excellent, the food we had there was the same.

Cons:

The room was definitely tired, we had a dog with us so may not have been given one of the better rooms.

A lovely location with such an interesting history. The staff in the dining room were very pleasant
Pros:

Breakfast a good selection in a lovely dining room.
Room 6 Bed was comfortable and linen was excellent as were the pillows.
Location was excellent, gardens well cared for.

Cons:

Breakfast at 9.30am felt rushed and some bowls of fruit and yogurt were empty, the staff were clearing up.
Room 6 decor a little tired, bathroom floor around the radiator was very dusty, the tops of the Bramley products needed wiping.

Too warm to sleep which made me feel dreadful
Pros:

Breakfast was very good and the location excellent

Cons:

The bed was not comfortable and the room was way too warm. There are also not enough plug sockets. I thought we would be staying in the main house but it was an annex near the car park
