Icaco is a beautiful, relaxing gem. Is tucked into the jungle, the drive to it is magical. The little “finca” / hotel Boutique has an amazing view, is taken care with loved. The infrastructure is honestly amazing, it reminds me a lot of the places in Tulum, Mexico

Cons:

The only things that was hard was that the ocean is pretty rough and we had 2 babies, I would say is the only down side but that is kind of my fault I should of researched that better

Pros:

This place is a hidden gem for anyone seeking peace and isolation. With only two cabins and one villa on-site, the privacy is unmatched. Having the pool and beach almost entirely to yourself is a true luxury.

Kelly is a rockstar, she is very attentive of all guest.

Cons:

Overprice for what you get, specially knowing other places in the area.

The restaurant struggled to balance service and guest attention, even with low occupancy. Plates where nor served at the same time. The menu lacked vegetarian options, and the breakfast offered poor value for money, as it was incomplete and required an additional charge for juice.

Since the location is so isolated and the reservation only specified 'The Villa,' we assumed it included a kitchen. The owners were kind enough to let us use the main kitchen, but the limited availability made meal times difficult and felt a bit like we were intruding on someone’s private home. I would highly recommend adding a dedicated guest kitchen or a shared cooking space to improve the experience.

Bed linens and towels were stained unfortunately.

Pros:

Nous cherchions un endroit loin de tout.
Seulement la plage et la nature.
C’est ce qu’on a trouvé.
Kelly et le staff sont extraordinaires!!!!

Cons:

Manque un peu de légume au menu.
Et le wifi est un peu instable, mais c’est le
Prix à payer pour ce type d’emplacement.
Y’a qu’à downloaded les épisodes plutôt que de les streamé et ça le fait très bien.

Una experiecia inolvidable!
Pros:

Nos costó un poco llegar porque fuimos en auto de alquiler. Pero, llamamos al refugio y nos vienieron a buscar y nos guiaron hasta el lugar. El Sr. Duber, muy amable. La atención de Kelly fue maravillosa, siempre estuvo atenta a nuestras necesidades. También la comida del restaurante. Muy profesional y buena. José y Zulma, muy buenos cocineros. Las materias primas de calidad. Muy bueno. Nos gustó mucho. Nos sentimos muy bien atendidos y contemplados. Sin duda, un lugar para volver.

Cons:

El desayuno no fue lo mejor.

We really enjoyed the beautiful beach and the interior design of the room, which was stylish and comfortable.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. We had to text with the staff constantly, sometimes even late at night, and they were often in our space with zero respect for privacy, even entering our room without notice. It was also very inconvenient to be asked about dinner choices right after breakfast.

The facilities lacked basic comfort: no insect nets on doors or in the bathroom, which meant our room was full of mosquitoes and ants. The Wi-Fi and electricity were unreliable, and the infrastructure in general was poor. Getting to the hotel was also difficult during rain, with the roads becoming extremely muddy, even for motorbike taxis.

The overall organisation felt very unprofessional, especially the payment process. After check-out, one employee chased us because their card machine wasn’t working. We were already in contact with the owner via WhatsApp to solve the payment digitally, but the staff member followed our bus, told the driver we hadn’t paid, forced us to get off, and even demanded we go to an ATM as the bus was leaving. This created an incredibly stressful situation.

Communication was also very difficult, as no one spoke English. The room looked attractive at first glance, but most things were broken and fragile. The eating schedule was rigid and inflexible, and small requests such as extra sauces were often forgotten.

Icaco refugio de playa
Pros:

This beach house definitely exceeded our expectations. My partner and I had a lovely stay in the villa. The staff ( Duberney, Milena and Kelly) were friendly ,always willing to help and make our days memorable. Food was amazing and the beach lounge was cozy and peaceful.

Peaceful retreat with private beach, child friendly
Pros:

We had a wonderful stay in refugio de playa in September 2024. The villa is modern and clean with air conditioning among palm trees with easy access to a private beach with a day bed, comfortable chairs and hammocks. The area has a lot to offer from the tayrona national park to stunning waterfalls but its worth hiring a car. The hosts went out of their way to make our stay memorable, providing a blow up swimming pool, swing, and many toys for our two year old and helping us plan activities - even calling on relatives to provide us with a place to stay during our day trip to tayrona.

Cons:

Because its a rural location there are quite a few mosquitos but we managed this with our own mosquito net, repellent and the hosts kindly provided smoke based on a traditional method each day.
