Whole experience
Our criteria for this holiday was to find somewhere quiet,stress free and far from over visited tourist haunts.Patmos and The Golden Sun Hotel seemed to be a good combination and I am pleased to say that both met and indeed exceeded our expectations.
The Hotel is beautifully situated overlooking the village of Grikos.It is traditional Greek in style which ,for us,helped create a wonderful laid back atmosphere.A modern pool overlooks the bay and slots perfectly into the landscape.Complementing all this were very friendly and helpful staff.The breakfast was excellent providing a wide range of foods.Our room was thoroughly cleaned each day.All these elements combined to create a perfect stay.
Given the elevated location of the hotel there are some steps and a narrow path to the beach-not a major problem.Grikos is about 4-5km from the port and main activity centre of Skala.It should be noted that there is a bus stop directly outside the hotel providing a regular and very dependable service to Scala and Hora.The last service leaves at 7.30 pm .Taxis are readily available should you wish to leave later.There are five excellent tavernas in and around the boy of Grikos.

Vue magnifique, chambre confortable, piscine très agréable, petit-déjeuner compris, bons restaurants à proximité, personnel accueillant, très bonne situation géographique : on aurait aimé rester plus longtemps !
Lovely quaint hotel with great views from.our balcony. Rooms were spacious and clean. Lovely pool area and gardens. Staff were amazing. Lovely buffet breakfast.
Too many steps to the beach and insufficient lighting at night walking down to the taverna.
Lovely views of Grikos Bay from the room ( we had a sea view balcony ).
Lovely new pool area, good sunbeds and not crowded.

The provision of breakfast is a bit chaotic sometimes. Food is just about OK, but remember that the hotel is not expensive.
Clearance of tables not great, and sometimes food and drink items ran out for a while, as did provision of cutlery.
This just lets things down a bit in what is basically a nice three star greek hotel.
La struttura si trova sotto la strada per Hora ed ha le camere con il balcone affacciato sulla bella baia di Gricos. Una veduta stupenda, specialmente al mattino, quando il sole entra nella stanza.
La camera era ampia, bella, pulita. Ampio il bagno. Colazione a buffet, varia e abbondante.
Personale gentilissimo e disponibile.
Per migliorare l'aspetto della struttura basterebbe colorare di bianco porte e finestre, ma comunque va bene anche così.
La vicinanza alla spiaggia, la terrazza che si affaccia sul mare e la gentilezza del personale,

Dover alzarmi presto per far colazione, il primo giorno di vacanza siamo arrivati a fare colazione intorno alle 8.40, il bollitore del caffè era vuoto, non c'era posto per sedersi però il personale molto gentile ed attento ha risolto in breve tempo la situazione.
Es ist ein einfaches kleines Hotel 😀 mit einer genialen Aussicht 👍 etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber alles Sauber mit sehr netten Leuten 👍 Frühstück war ok alles da was man brauchte im Garten gab es einen Pool mit Liegen

Andrianna was very friendly and helpful. The views are stunning.
I had to fight painfully with my balcony door to get it to close and the air con won't work unless the door is fully closed. In the end I couldn't use the balcony because it was too stressful trying to close the door.
The breakfast was ok but definitely didn't live up to the photos.
The main issue for me was the location. I like quiet places but unless you have a car this isn't a great spot. There is nowhere to buy water, you have to buy it from the hotel. At night it is pitch black to walk back from the tavernas and there is no restaurant at the hotel.
I've seen reviews that say it's close to Skala but it's 3 miles from the town, so not close.
Many people love the hotel so you may love it too, it just wasn't right for me.
