La limpieza, en la habitación encontramos ropa interior de pasajeros anteriores. No me gustó la atención en el mesón, hubo dos personas muy poco empáticas, no ayudaron en nada.

It was clean, quiet, and had a lot of amenities. The staff were very friendly and the check-in and check-out process were easy and fast.
Everything was overall great, except for one night we called to get blankets and it took the staff over 20 minutes to get to us. Then one of the workers didn’t come back to update us about the gym after we asked. Otherwise, it was really great!

Nothing about this situation is good. We were unable to stay, cancelled stay, but were still charged.
We booked this stay through Booking.com but needed to cancel. Booking.com website indicates that we DID cancel. Hotel reports that they did not receive this notice and listed us as a no-show which resulted in charge for full stay. They refuse to refund the money despite me providing them the cancellation notice listed on Booking.com website. Attempted to resolve this issue with Booking.com and was told that since the charge came from Riu Chicago hotel, I would need to take up refund issue with them. Riu states that they discussed issue with Booking.com but Booking.com denies this. Someone is lying, but I am unable to determine who. At this point, I wouldn't trust either and would book my stays elsewhere.

The carpet-textured tiles throughout, including in the guest rooms, are a bit odd, but are practical, maybe based on experience in resort areas (with beaches) where Riu hotels were founded. It took several calls and a wait to get a couple more pillows and towels. But overall, happy with the stay.

The property was in a great location. Close to a lot of things right within walking distance.
They didn’t have microwaves in the rooms. They also didn’t have rugs in one of the entrances and my wife slipped on the floor when it was raining.

The room and bathroom are comfortable and modern. Breakfast was excellent with different options every day and plenty to eat and drink before heading out for the day. The elevator was quick, and out of the three days there we only had to wait more than 3 minutes once in mid morning when it seemed plenty of people were checking out which is understandable.
Front desk staff wasn't friendly during check-in or check-out. They weren't rude, exactly, but the lack of greeting, minimal eye contact, and curt one-word responses were out of place with the way the cleaning staff and dining room staff seemed to go out of their way to be professional and friendly. It just seemed out of place with the rest of the experience for them to not take the time to look a visitor in the eye or even smile while doing something as simple as assigning a key and going over building rules.
The location was great. The breakfast was magnificent with a large choice of fresh and delicious options. The rooms were very clean and well maintained.
My room wasn't ready on arrival, even though I checked in after the check-in time. The lady at the front desk was fairly quick to remedy it, but it did put me behind schedule for a meeting.

Everything! My family and I have been coming to Chicago for years and never landed on a hotel we loved or one that stayed around long enough. This is definitely our new hotel! This trip was just my husband and I but we will be bringing our kids next time and the free breakfast is a huge plus! It was delicious!
