Shanta Ghar A Rustic Guesthouse

Calm, quiet and far from the bitten track. The family is the nicest people I've met. The owner has an extensive knowledge about not only Chitwan but also the Himalaya mountains. The safari they organize is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, during which you can eat delicious meals in a jungle watching wildlife and cruise in a jeep spotting rhinos and elephants! They truly put so much care in everything the guests experience.

If you want a unique moment away from all the touristy noise, this is a fantastic place! Sincerely recommend!

Porterò per sempre nel cuore questa splendida famiglia e questo luogo magico dove la vita scorre ad un ritmo lento ed in sintonia con la natura! Il proprietario è un uomo eccezionale, disponibile ed dal cuore grande! Sua moglie una donna dalla dolcezza infinita ed una cuoca incredibile!!! Ed il loro cane davvero cordiale!! Every thing about our stay was more than we anticipated. The family was welcoming to us from time we arrived and we felt comfortable immediately.

Lovely family, location and house.

L'assoluta unicità dell'esperienza. Una casa in legno, in mezzo alle risaie, lontana dal mondo. Unica. Ma il valore aggiunto è la famiglia che ti ospita. Hari, il capofamiglia è una persona straordinaria, con cui ho cenato insieme al figlio, parlando della vita in nepal e della sua straordinaria esperienza. È una persona gentile, simpatica e molto onesta. È stato un incontro eccezionale. E una esperienza davvero unica. Ho fatto, insieme ad Hari, un safari eccezionale, 11 ore in mezzo alla foresta, è stato una guida eccezionale e mi ha spiegato un sacco di cose sulla vita della foresta. E lui ha una vista incredibile e sono riuscito a vedere un sacco di animali. È stata una esperienza davvero unica. Quello che pagate non è un albergo, è una esperienza di vita. Grazie Hari a te e alla tua bellissima famiglia. Spero un giorno di poter tornare a trovarti. Un abbraccio

Stay with welcoming and friendly family well off the beaten track. Our host arranged a safari in Chitwan for the day and we saw rhinos, elephants and many other wild animals and saw parts of Chitwan far away from the main tourist area.
It wasn't very clear how to get there ... but it wasn't that hard. We left the Tourist bus at the first stop in Bharatpur (not the main stop - just ask the conductor for advice) and walked a short distance to the main bus terminal. After asking around a couple of times, we found the local bus to Madi and let the conductor know where we were staying. Then just sat until we were dropped off right outside the Guesthouse.
The alternative option (and the one we wished we had taken) was to take a taxi/tuk-tuk to the Guesthouse - there is plenty of choice. This would be far quicker (the bus took 2+hours and the tuk-tuk would have been just over an hour).

Lovely rural location within the boundary of the Chitwan National park.

Tout, le calme, la famille, la simplicite. Le chien, le chat, leur amour et respect pour l'environnement et les animaux. Le petit dejeuner et diner. La moustiquaire et la chambre familiale, la vue, le balcon. Wifi excellente, meilleure qu'a Katmandou. Et douche tres chaudes, plus chaude que partout ailleurs! La distance ne devrait pas decourager. Tout a fait acceptable. Le bus s'arrete a la porte! De Bharaptur et Pokhara direct!
On fait partie de la famille en tres peu de temps. Je devais rester 5 jours je suis restee 7.

Es war alles Bestens: Die Umgebung, das wunderschöne alte Haus, die Herzlichkeit der Familie. Wir haben uns sehr Willkommen gefühlt. Die Jeepsafarie war super!

If you’re looking for an authentic homestay, in the middle of rural Nepal where you can relax and enjoy Nepalese culture and food, then this is the perfect place. The family is kind and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious and the surroundings are beautiful. The rooms are spacious though not super luxurious (which is to be expected being this far from commercial touristic places to be fair). They also arranged a jungle safari for us! We loved our stay here!

Family were very accomodating making sure we had everything we needed and more! It’s in a great location very relaxing surrounded by rice fields in a small village.

If you want to experience local, rural Nepal then this place is perfect! The family you stay with are all amazing, and make the experience even more memorable! The wife cooks the best traditional Nepal food too! Mr Rama has a jeep and took us on a jungle safari and to a waterfall as well! Mr Rama is the kindest man and also provided me with lots of information on their religion and traditions! I was a solo female traveller and I highly recommend this place!

This guest house is way out off the tourist route, it’s is as described a ‘rustic guesthouse’ the family who run it are lovely people who truly care about their product and showing you their wonderful country. Nothing is too much trouble for them they make you feel so welcome with lots of tea, cold water and great food. The jungle safari was heaps of fun, 8 hours to be precise, great value for money with many animals spotted.
