Disappointed by the cleanliness of the room and lack of heating

The hotel itself was beautiful

Cons:

The radiator wasn’t working in the bedroom and the room was very cold. When we told reception it was like they already knew that and said there was a portable one in the cupboard . This hardly warmed the room at all . So we had a cold night

Lovely staff but very expensive food and room for what you get

Lovely building in a lovely location, near the forest. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Cons:

The rooms were very overpriced, dusty, and didn’t have hot water! However, our issues were quickly resolved.

Pros:

Superb - good choice and excellent quality breakfast with nice touches.

Cons:

It should have been clearer when booking that the hotel restaurant was closed. This information wasn't clear on the booking details or on the hotel website. We ate at the pub attached to the hotel which was okay but more casual and informal than we wanted for a celebration meal.

Perfect Stay!
Pros:

The Montague is a very old hotel with bags of character. My husband had an appointment locally, and so I chose to visit with him and work from the hotel. It is comfortable and cosy, and the staff cannot do enough for you. Always, friendly and very efficient. We ate in Monty's, which is the pub part of the hotel, which was very enjoyable; we both loved how dog friendly the place is, with lots of dog beds and treats around. On a previous visit, we ate in the Terrace restaurant, which was also very good. There are lovely walks around the area too, plus it is a great base for visiting further a field.

Cons:

There is nothing not to like!
