Amalen Suites Adults Only

My husband and I stayed at Amalen for 8 nights for our honeymoon, and we had the absolute best experience! The hotel itself is small, quaint, yet luxurious. We stayed in room 2, and thoroughly enjoyed sitting out at our private pool to relax during the daytime. The bed was SO comfortable, and the dim lighting throughout the room was very relaxing. We had comfortable rides arranged by the hotel to and from the airport, which made out arrival and departure stress-free.

Perhaps the best part, was the daily breakfast. We were served a generous portion of traditional greek breakfast items that changed each day. We were also asked our preferences, as they were happy to accommodate any requests (we were more than happy with what we were served). The primary staff member (I believe it is spelled Iakovos) helping us was exceptional! He checked in on us frequently, and wanted to ensure that we had the best experience possible. On days that we missed breakfast due to other planned activities, he brought us breakfast boxes the night before so we would have something to eat the next morning.

The hotel sits right at the edge of the Old Town area, which made walking super feasible. We did not rent a car, but felt that we had plenty of places to see, eat and enjoy at a walkable distance. We enjoyed exploring the Fortezza, which is just down the road from the hotel. We were also easily able to walk over to the beach stretch to rent chairs for the day.

If we ever find ourselves returning to Crete, we would without a doubt go back to Amalen Suites for another stay. I will say that if we returned for another extended stay, we would be interested in trying one of the upper rooms, as I understand that they are a bit roomier and that the pools are heated. However, our first floor room was still one of the nicest places we have stayed on vacation.

Es gibt viele schöne Design-Hotels auf Kreta, aber Amalen Suites ist wirklich einzigartig. Architektur und Interieur sind absolut beeindruckend. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und engagiert. Das täglich wechselnde Frühstück war sehr lecker und reichhaltig.

A wonderful and personal stay

We stayed here for two nights as a little treat for ourselves, and it was definitely worth it. It’s a very small and intimate hotel, with only around 4–5 rooms, which creates a really personal and peaceful atmosphere.

The service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated how personal everything felt. They remembered our names and were always happy to help with anything we needed, which made us feel very welcome.

Our room was beautiful, with tasteful interior design and, importantly for us, great lighting. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into the details. We also had a private pool directly connected to our room, which was a fantastic bonus and gave us the opportunity to relax and enjoy some privacy.

The breakfast was also very good. They asked what we would like and if we had any particular preferences, which made it feel much more personal than a standard hotel breakfast.

The location was perfect for us, right on the edge of the old town. It was an ideal base for exploring the old town and made it easy to come and go while still being able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the hotel.

A beautiful little hotel with exceptional personal service. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!

Es ist leider schwierig, diese Unterkunft zu bewerten. Vom Ambiente der Anlage, Design der Zimmer und der Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit des Personals eine ganz klare 10. Ein absolut ungewöhnlicher und einzigartiger Charme. Das Frühstück war zwar kein Buffet aber dafür ungewöhnlich und außergewöhnlich, welches in einem sehr schönen Ambiente serviert wurde. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und entsprach den versprochenen Bildern. Wir hatten kein Problem damit, einen Parkplatz zu finden. Er war zwar nicht direkt vor der Tür aber fußläufig kein Problem.

We have nothing but praise for Amalen Suites. The place and the suite met all of our expectations. Generous and delicious breakfast, great room service, clean suite with refined design, exceptionally comfortable bed and a really nice outdoor area with a private pool.


The host and all other employees have been very friendly and helpful. 


Our stay was a one to remember. Will definitely recommend Amalen and be back in future.
