Design schlägt leider Nutzungsmöglichkeit
Pros:

Es ist leider schwierig, diese Unterkunft zu bewerten. Vom Ambiente der Anlage, Design der Zimmer und der Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit des Personals eine ganz klare 10. Ein absolut ungewöhnlicher und einzigartiger Charme. Das Frühstück war zwar kein Buffet aber dafür ungewöhnlich und außergewöhnlich, welches in einem sehr schönen Ambiente serviert wurde. Das Zimmer war sehr groß und entsprach den versprochenen Bildern. Wir hatten kein Problem damit, einen Parkplatz zu finden. Er war zwar nicht direkt vor der Tür aber fußläufig kein Problem.

Cons:

Leider erfüllt das Zimmer andere normale Selbstverständlichkeiten nicht voll umfänglich. Angefangen damit, dass man sich ständig konzentrieren muss, keinen Fehltritt zu machen, mit unter Umständen schlimmen Folgen (u.a. die Treppe im Raum zum Bett oder allein der Weg zum Zimmer über Steine im Wasser mit Koffern alles andere als einfach). Etwas unangenehm war, dass man im sehr kühlen "Pool" ständig das Gefühl hatte, von den Gästen im oberen Zimmer beobachtet zu werden. Das Zimmer ist zwar riesengroß, aber man hat überhaupt keine Möglichkeit, sein Sachen zu verstauen. Die Koffer standen im Zimmer und man musste quasi aus dem Koffer leben. Das Zimmer war insgesamt sehr dunkel und die Sanitären Anlagen sind ungewöhnlich im Raum untergebracht, was nicht jedermanns Sache ist. Das Schloss und der Schlüssel zum Zimmer haben leider auch nur dekorativen Charakter,

A little slice of haven
Pros:

We have nothing but praise for Amalen Suites. The place and the suite met all of our expectations. Generous and delicious breakfast, great room service, clean suite with refined design, exceptionally comfortable bed and a really nice outdoor area with a private pool.


The host and all other employees have been very friendly and helpful. 


Our stay was a one to remember. Will definitely recommend Amalen and be back in future.

Prachtig design hotel met authentieke elementen
Pros:

Prachtig design hotel op wandelafstand van Old town Rethymno. Gratis parking vlakbij

Hele mooie suite met authentieke elementen. Waterpartijen zijn echt fantastisch gedaan. Lekkere pizza als lunch bij het zwembad

Cons:

Ontbijt wordt geadverteerd op de website als a la carte. Dit was toch niet het geval.
Gezien de hoge prijs per nacht vonden we het ontbijt persoonlijk wat tegenvallen en was er geen keuze mogelijkheid

incredible spot, would recommend for couples wanting a uniquely calm experience inside the Old Town

This spot is really special. It feels like sleeping inside a thoughtfully designed spa.

Cons:

A few suggestions because I want to see this place succeed--

I booked a suite several months in advance for over a week as I was very excited to try out Amalen Suites, an amazing design for a boutique hotel. However, after I arrived, one of the very friendly managers hinted to me that next time I should select one of the higher floor suites as they are nicer and have more natural light options. This would have been great information to have had in advance, however, so I can suggest reviewing the advance reservations and checking in with guests who are coming for the first time before they arrive to ensure they've selected the best suite for their needs.

The sewage smell -- which is a problem all over Rethymno -- should be addressed with a more creative solution (cover the vents with rugs, perhaps?)

There is no reliable Wifi access inside the suites. I had to use my phone data. Perhaps routers inside each suite would help?

Last but not least, the black-out curtains to cover the windows were installed at the same height, but blackout curtains should be installed above the daytime curtain to fully block the morning light.

Pros:

Das Frühstück war super. Bett war comfy und die Unterkunft war einmalig. Schnell in der Altstadt und doch privat mit Pool. Jederzeit wieder.

Cons:

Einzig due Parkplatzsituation ist ein wenig schwierig da bei unserer Ankunft selbst der kostenpflichtige Parkplatz voll war. Das hat aber ja nichts mit der Unterkunft selbst zu tun .

À refaire, dans la chambre 5 🤩
Pros:

Emplacement dans la vielle ville dans le cœur du centre piéton de Rethymnon (quelques des bruits de voitures et de gens qui passent, mais c’est le jeu d’être dans le centre ville avec des suites à ciel ouvert).
Petit-déjeuner délicieux mais copieux (impossible de tout finir).
Service de chambre avec petite carte de cocktails/vins/softs, en plus possibilité de commander des plats en chambre jusque 20:00PM à un prix très démocratique pour la qualité/quantité!
Personnel très accueillant.
Équipements et confort de literie au rendez-vous, certes le côté architectural/design est plus mis en avant que le côté « pratique » (exemple: manque de lumière/pas de miroir au dessus de l’évier/WC pas complètement isolé) mais ça n’a pas déranger notre séjour plus que ça compte-tenu de la beauté du lieu et de l’ambiance relaxante de la chambre 3.

Cons:

Chambre 3: soleil pendant 2h-3h max sur la terrasse, jamais pas dans la piscine.
Regardez bien les chambres sur le site officiel, elles sont très différentes.

There were some minor repairs that needed to be made. For a place that fancy it should have been done as they were easy fixes. That said the staff was so concerned about our satisfaction it wasn’t worth making a big deal about

Etape d'exception à Rethymnon
Pros:

Hébergement d'exception et chambres atypiques au charme fou !!
Dès qu'on passe la porte de l'établissement, on se sent dans un environnement à part, comme dans un cocon feutré. Notre hôte est attentionné et aux petits soins. Le petit déjeuner est juste parfait avec des produits locaux et délicieux.
Pour le diner, le restaurant à côté de l'hôtel est excellent sur sa petite place sous les arbres et le centre historique de Rethymnon est à courte distance de marche.

Cons:

Nous avons juste regretté de ne pas être resté une nuit de plus !

Auch beim zweiten Mal: perfekt
Pros:

Dies war unser zweiter Aufenthalt und es war mindestens genauso schön wie beim ersten Mal. Dieses Hotel gehört zu meinen Happy Places, die ich immer wieder besuchen möchte. Man fühlt sich einfach nur wohl und rundum versorgt. Jakob ist der perfekte Gastgeber, sehr aufmerksam und unfassbar nett.

Pros:

Room was beautiful, amazing location, staff are so friendly and attentive, breakfast is one of the best I’ve ever had.

Cons:

Slight bad smell from the bathroom and our pool wasn’t usable during our stay due to problems with the cleanliness. This however was more than rectified with a late checkout, wine for the room, partial refund and a discount on our next stay
