Cette demeure est tout simplement superbe ; elle est située un peu en retrait de la fureur de la ville de Kandy. D'une autre époque dans laquelle nous nous sommes replongés. Il y règne une atmosphère particulière du à la décoration. Nous avons été accueilli par le Maître de maison comme si nous étions de la famille. Un accueil hors du temps. Nous sommes restés deux nuits, et avons eu la chance d'avoir des diners succulents et la découverte de la cuisine sri lankaise. Les petits déjeuners excellent et le second matin la surprise d'un petit déjeuner somptueux dans le jardin. Délicatesse, gentillesse sont les maitre mot du personnels. Nous avons du quitter après deux jours avec beaucoup de regret ce lieu si magique.

It was a beautiful atmospheric building with a lovely garden and swimming pool. The room was exceptionally spacious and well furnished. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was tasty.
Dinner price was expensive by local standards and there was no bar, The hotel was located quite far out from Kandy centre so you really need your own vehicle as the tuk tuk drivers in Ksndy didn't know the hotel so getting back could be problematic. We were also kept waiting outside the gates for quite a long time on two occasions as they are kept locked and no one was around. A bell to press to alert staff in the house would be very helpful.

Hij maakte voor ons een heerlijke uien chutney om mee naar huis te nemen, want die vonden we zo lekker.
De reis met tuktuk naar t centrum was lang, 20 min. Maar het was ook een voordeel omdat Kandy zo enorm druk is met verkeer.
Alles is wel wat gedateerd. Lampen naast t bed waren stuk, de lampenkappen vielen eraf, stoelen op het balkon kapot en gordijnen die ook aan vervanging toe waren.
The colonial architecture was very nice. Grounds were nice.
Place is run down. A/C didn’t work. Bathroom sink didn’t drain well. Beds were broken. Lobby bathrooms had no soap or toilet paper. Limited bottled water on premises. We were bitten by bugs in our beds. Communication in English was difficult.

Zimmerservice nur auf Nachfrage und ohne auffüllen der Verbrauchsartikel geht bei dem Preis gar nicht.
Frühstück limitiert und sehr chaotisch (alles kommt nur ganz langsam nach und nach, Heißgetränke erst spät, wenn das meiste schon gegessen ist). Da fehlt es einfach an Professionalität und Überblick.

Manor House is a real treasure in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
A perfect blend of British, Dutch and Sri Lanky architecture. This historical house, built in 1884, was once owned by ministers family — and now by the wonderful Chitra and Kumar.
From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a palace — yet everything was made with such warmth and soul that we immediately felt at home. The service was outstanding, with incredible attention to detail from the staff.
We were honored to stay in the oldest authentic room and enjoy a fantastic traditional Sri Lankan breakfast with the owners in their beautiful garden full of trees and flowers.
If you’re visiting Kandy, don’t miss the chance to experience this magical place — it’s more than just a stay, it’s a piece of history and heart. ❤️
Beautiful house and grounds. We were the only guests and the hotel really feels more like a private home. The staff set up tables in different parts of the garden at different times of day - lovely shady breakfast under the mangosteen tree, which a staff member nipped up to pick us the fruit! All the rooms are beautiful and spacious, the hotel has lots of nice places to sit with a drink or a book. Lovely pool. Delicious food. Filtered water on tap. Kind and thoughtful staff. Perfectly placed in quiet surroundings just outside Kandy, but easy to get in and out by tuktuk or car.

A stunning colonial manor, with typical architecture and fascinating bric-a-brac accessories. Very friendly staff, Breakfast hall is avery charming old ballroom. Greta Atmosphere.
The building is old and you can feel it. It needs lot of maintenance and better solutions to make it comfortable, Noisy fan and A/C. Lighting poor.
Loved the renovated manor house and the spacious and comfortable rooms. Loved reading and finding out from the owners about the history of the building.
We enjoyed our stay at Manor House! Nice large rooms with character and comfortable beds. Well kept garden and swimming pool. Friendly staff who were able to offer good advice on things to see in the local area.
Location is a short distance from Kandy - this means it is nice and quiet but you do need a Tuk Tuk/car if you want to go to a restaurant .
Loved the old style architecture and gardens, beautiful Manor House. The pool is a good refreshment for kids. Continental breakfast was ok.
It needed to be updated, facilities were old, hotel seemed empty and staff a little disoriented, the fact the doors have a top with openings allows the sound to pass by, so in our case with a room on a ground floor we had noise when guests arrived late at night.

Beautiful residence charged with history. We were greeted very warmly and the hotel staff were available at any time, with manager Angelo giving us personal recommendations and tips to make the most of our stay, even offering transport and further bookings, without being pushy. The hotel is quiet and generally used for functions so we were the only guests and received undivided attention.
Everything is tailored to your needs, which also means you may feel the attention is too much at times and you may feel obligated to accept offers of tours, drivers and so on, but the staff give you space. The fit and finish is a little dated but generally comfortable.
