I liked how clean and comfortable the rooms were for a house made up of mud. The staff were also very friendly.
The checkout time.
We did not realize the checkout time was 11am neither did the staff make us aware during checkin. Exactly at 11am the next day we got a call from the owner to clear the room. Not a hospitable word. Just that we should be aware of the checkout time and should leave and that they need to make the room ready for another guest. We rushed and cleared out at exactly 15 minutes. Without being aware of this we were called and asked to leave again. Twice. I mean I do get the urgency during busy seasons but just a few polite words and a little bit of professionalism from the owner’s side would have been nice.

Cozy common area around the wood burning stove, with the host telling stories about the area. Lovely old wooden building with character. One of our most memorable stays in Nepal.
We appreciated that they allowed us to store our bikes in a secure indoor area.
The owner was super friendly, and the house has been beautifully transformed into an antique-style hotel.

Hotel Dancing Yak is a very nice, comfy, and budget-friendly place to stay. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the indoor restaurant serves delicious food perfect after a long travel day!
What impressed me most was the staff’s helpfulness. While I was traveling from Ghandruk to Jomsom, I faced a little issue with transport. I called the hotel, and within just 15 minutes, they arranged a sharing taxi for me. That kind of quick support truly made my journey easier.
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area great hospitality, comfort, and value for money!
I liked the traditional style of the hotel.
There is no soundproofing in the rooms. I was woken many times by barking dogs. The bed wasn't very comfortable. The hotel is overpriced.

The owner is so caring. He planned me a short itinerary for my day in Jomsom, he also took me to watch some of the locals play archery and to watch music.

Good food
It feels like there is no privacy with how little sound proofing there is. I can hear everything outside of the room very clearly. There is only a thin curtain on the windows, which doesn't give full privacy. The staff knocked on our door and called inside to us while we were resting. Good intentions to help, but it felt a little bit intrusive.
This is an authentic Himalayan experience. Owner said it used to be family home but turned into a lodge, then had to reclass as hotel. The room was spacious and clean, nice en-suite, good food in big portions. Nurse from Pokhara stop outside, loads to see.
No problems here, but you need to know the stairs are typically steep as across most of rural Nepal.
