A place we would happily return to
Pros:

What a fantastic hotel , a true hidden gem! Bad Gastein, for us “Paris in the mountains,” is an incredibly beautiful town full of character and history. It's hard to understand why its glory days are said to be in the past, as the place remains absolutely stunning.

The hotel has been renovated to a very high standard and strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. We were delighted to receive an upgrade to a beautifully designed suite, complete with every luxury imaginable.

The warm hospitality started the moment we arrived, with a genuinely friendly welcome that set the tone for the rest of our stay. Every detail seemed carefully considered.

Breakfast was another highlight. It was served in an elegant dining room with a wonderful atmosphere and offered a delicious selection of high-quality products. It was the perfect way to start each day.

We can recommand to chose a stay over here

Wonderful hotel
Pros:

Beautifully decorated hotel with amazing views, friendly staff and an overall great experience! The rooms had lots of nice touches, everything was complementary, the breakfasts were great with a mix of buffet and freshly cooked meals too that you could order.

Cons:

There was a fan, cool setting in the room which did not work at all, not sure if it was supposed too but it meant the hot nights were very uncomfortable. We had to sleep with the windows open and as breathtaking as the waterfall is, its very loud!

We enjoyed every moment in this superb hotel and surrounding mountains!
Pros:

Beautiful hotel with atmosphere! Nice and friendly staff, perfect room, breakfast and dinner was absolutely amazing!! Big room, Rituals cosmetics everywhere. Swimming pool and spa was extra bonus after the bike trips. Hotel is located in the city center just next to the biggest attraction in Bad Gastein that is a waterfall! Bike / ski room is easy accessible.

Cons:

Not negative but just observation: Bad Gastein used to be luxury place many years before. We were shocked at how many beautiful and large hotels are empty and unmaintained. The most famous hotels such as Grand Hotel de I`Europe are used as Airbnb etc. On the other hand this big contrast is also very impressive and very interesting to see!!! We didn't mind, but it surprised us.

sehr gutes Pool, sehr gutes Personal, sehr schöner Speiseraum, schlechte Küche und nächtlicher Lärm
Pros:

Wir waren bereits zum zweiten mal im "Straubinger". Sehr gut hat uns das Personal gefallen; alles prächtige junge Mitarbeiter und sehr hilfsbereit. Uns hat auch das Hotel mit seinen Umbaudetails gefallen. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet, die Säfte frisch gepresst. Der Spa mit dem Pool war ruhig und nicht überlaufen. Man konnte sich sehr gut erholen. Aber wo "Licht" ist, ist auch meist "Schatten" Siehe hierzu die nächste Rubrik:

Was uns gar nicht gefallen hat, war die Tatsache, dass gleich gegenüber dem Straubinger Platz ein weitere Hotel vom gleichen Betreiber (Hochhaus) mit einem ganz anderem Konzept konzipiert war. Die Architektur selber ist auch hier gelungen, aber es hat eine andere Zielgruppe. Hier sind mehr junge und partyhungrige Leute untergebracht die auch
im Außenbereich feiern wollen. Es wurden extra Außenlautsprecher montiert, damit die Musik auch im Freien gut zu hören ist. Für Gäste des Straubinger Grand Hotel, die Ruhe, Entspannung und stressfreie Tage erleben wollen, ist dies nicht ideal. Zumindest dann nicht, wenn Sie Zimmer zum Straubinger Platz haben. Das Hotel hat keine Lärmschutzfenster. Und da auch keine Klimaanlage vorhanden ist, die die Zimmertemperatur herunterbringt, kann man bei geschlossenem Fenster nicht schlafen (Sommerhitze). Wir waren zwei Nächte im Hotel und haben uns über den Lärm zweimal beschwert. Gut war, dass das junge Hotelpersonal dann für das Abschalten der Außenmusikanlage des gegenüberliegendem Hotel gesorgt hat.
Was und auch nicht gefallen bzw. geschmeckt hat, war das Essen der Hotelküche. Bei unserem ersten Besuch 2025 haben wir ein Menü und bei unserem jetzigen Besuch ein Wiener Schnitzel bestellt. Bei einer Wertung nach Schulnoten würde ich sagen, dass Menü hatte noch die Note 3 aber das jetzige Schnitzel eher die Note 5. Ein Schnitzel für 44,0 Euro mit ein paar kleinen Bratkartoffel und ohne Salat / Gemüse. Teilweise waren nur die beiden Panatschichten (oben und unten) vorhanden und das Fleisch dazwischen hat gefehlt. Ein Vergleichsschnitzel im selben Ort für Euro 18,00 war um Klassen besser, hatte einen bunten Salat und eine kunstvolle Anrichte. Wir hatten den Eindruck, hier ist kein Qualitätskoch am Werke sondern ein Auszubildender. Das sollte im Straubinger Hotel nicht der Fall sein, immerhin hat hier der Sternekoch Schuhbeck seine ersten Kochregeln gelernt.

Feel like royalty in Straubinger 👑

Very helpful and professional staff, relaxing spa facilities, gorgeous rooms and waterfall views. Best hotel experience I have ever had 🥰

As an avid sauna goer this is deserves special recognition: the Finnish sauna was equipped with a bucket and a ladle. Most Finnish saunas in central Europe I’ve visited on my trips are too hot and too dry and have no way of throwing water on the rocks on your own. Sauna rooms also had beautiful views over the waterfall.

Wunderbares Hotel mit top Service! Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück, ebenso wie das Restaurant. Die kleinen Aufmerksamkeiten zum Geburtstag haben alles noch abgerundet. Der Pool und Spa-Bereich neben dem Wasserfall und mit grandioser Aussicht waren ein Highlight. Gerne wieder.

Pros:

Perfekt gelegen, direkt am Wasserfall. Rooftop-Pool ein Traum (mit Getränke-Service). Ein geschmackvoll restauriertes Grandhotel aus alten Zeiten.
Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die Freundlichkeit von Waltraut und Bruno! Vielen Dank, ihr habt den Aufenthalt noch viel schöner gemacht.

Cons:

Kein Manko, weil in dem Haus wahrscheinlich nicht möglich - aber als Info - es gibt keine Klimaanlage
