Picturesque place, but you should rather not rely on the friendly faces
Pros:

The pool and the cottages are just as beautiful as on the pictures. The breakfast was okay for no longer than 4 days.

Cons:

Due to electricity issues we had no power for a significant amount of time, causing our stuff in the fridge to become rotten, and since we did not notice it, we got some stomach issues during our stay. Also because of power outages, the kitchen could not always operate, so be prepared that you might need to wait a lot or select a dish not requiring electricity. The staff was very friendly and kind, they get me certain feminine hygine products when i was in need, but at first they wanted to make me pay 2 dollars per piece, which sounds literal robbery, especially if we consider that it was an already opened box, not a brand new package of tampons. It was a little bit disappointing feeling, but maybe it is for real a luxory item.

It is okay, but something is missing
Pros:

Dreamlike cottages and pool with wonderful view to the beach.

Cons:

Instable electricity, a little bit expensive considering the not too wide range of variety presented at breakfast. Even tough we booked a room with view to the ocean, our room was quite far fron the ocean. Practically we had a view, the did not lie or anything, but based on the pictures i somehow expected it to be closer to the waterfront.

Fantastiskt läge precis vid havet och en vacker trädgård.

Lite slitet, särskilt trädäcket runt poolen där plankor va lösa och det stack upp spikar.

Relax stay
Pros:

We enjoyed the room and the peace (we knew it was a quiet area), however practically nothing else around in case you want to change restaurant etc so be ready for that. Nice staff, one day one of them was climbing to get coconuts and they just gave us one, really nice gesture and tasty fresh coconuts !

Cons:

Food options were not the best maybe. For breakfast there wasn’t a buffet (only a tray with bread slices and mini croissants) until another group of visitors came the next day and they prepared a slighter bigger buffet.

Une bonne adresse
Pros:

Nous avons en réalité séjourné au Sunshine Bay, qui est un peu plus au nord, dans une petite baie isolée à marée haute. Une navette permet d'aller aux trois hôtels du groupe pour profiter des piscines, déjeuner ou dîner. C'est sympa parce que sur plusieurs jours ça permet de changer de restaurant. Le Azure est le seul qui soit sur la grande plage de Matemwe, avec à proximité d'autres bars et restaurants. Nous y étions durant le ramadan donc c'était très calme le soir, un peu trop.

Cons:

Les toilettes des chambres avec une porte ajournée et qui ne ferme même pas bien. Avis à tous les hôteliers, d'ailleurs, on aimerait bien avoir un peu d'intimité aux toilettes !!! :-))

Amazing Stay at Matemwe Beach
Pros:

The property is located right at the beach - amazing staff services and both their Garden Suite and Honeymoon Suite are gorgeous!
On our first day, the breakfast and the dinner was a bit letdown and we gave the feedback, what surprised us was that the management and the executive chef took the feedback constructively and immediately acted to give us a positive experience. Later on, thourghout our stay the foods have been amazing!
Definitely recommend to book your special dinner with them - the staffs (especially, Happiness) know how to make it even more beautiful. Thanks for the lovely stay in Zanzibar.

Heerlijke omgeving op een prachtig eiland
Pros:

De locatie was heerlijk rustig met een prachtig uitzicht vanaf het zwembad. Ook onze kamers hadden een prachtig uitzicht over het zwembad en de zee. Het ontbijt was lekker. De keuzes uit meerdere soorten ei was erg goed. Als je niet van ei houdt is het lastig, want de rest van de keuzes waren beperkt

Cons:

We hadden geboekt inclusief ontbijt. De prijzen voor de lunch en avondeten waren erg hoog. Een glas witte wijn voor 9 dollar is wat aan de hoge kant. Gelukkig zijn er veel goede lokale restaurants op loopafstand in de buurt waar je met 6 personen voor 50 a 60 dollar eet.

Friendly staff, fabulous, safe environment. Good service. You will really feel like a VIP guest.
Pros:

The breakfast varied, all meals with friendly and helpful staff - special Jacob. He always makes his best to make your stay as memorable as could, even in every little thing. Feel free to turn him. But every staff nice and smiling, The hotel situated just right on the best part of the ocean, with tropical well cared garden. You also can go to the other two partner hotels by the hotel own shuttle bus, anytime during the day if you need some new. The hotel has own generator which is very useful the daily blackout so it does not affect your comfort. Thank you to the entire Sunshine Azure team for making our stay very enjoyable.
We truly look forward to coming back.

Beautiful, quiet stay next to the ocean
Pros:

Beautiful beachfront location with amazing views from the pool.
Area was quiet and felt a lot calmer than other areas on the island

Cons:

The restaurant was a little pricey.
We couldnt really enjoy our balcony in the evening as there was no light on there- feels like a miss.

We recently celebrated our anniversary and birthdays at Sunshine Azura Hotel, and honestly, it was beyond anything we expected. From the moment the team learned about our special occasion, they went above and beyond to make it truly memorable.

The room arrangements were absolutely beautiful — thoughtfully decorated with such care and attention to detail that it immediately made us feel special and celebrated. It wasn’t just decoration; it felt personal and heartfelt.

The dinner setup was equally stunning. The table was perfectly arranged for celebration, creating a romantic and joyful atmosphere that made our evening unforgettable. The staff ensured everything ran smoothly, and their kindness and professionalism really stood out.
