Wonderful hotel and restaurant in a stunning location
Pros:

Wonderful hotel and restaurant in a beautiful secluded location. You can walk to the beach (15-20 minutes) and have it all to yourself with beautiful mountain scenery. Restaurant is outstanding (one our best meals of the trip). Sauna and yoga room are a nice way to relax at the end of the day. Close to many outdoor excursions.

Rooms are a little small by American standards, but it’s hard to find anything to complain about

A Hidden Gem on Iceland’s Black Coast
Pros:

Umi Hotel is beautiful, but the black beach just 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel is even more spectacular. It feels almost like our own private beach, with an incredible view stretching as far as the eye can see—endless black sand with waves of white foam drawing across it like a painting on a black canvas. What a wonder of nature! 🖤🌊

Our room was very clean and comfortable, and we even had horses casually walking past our window at night. 🐴 Such a unique Icelandic experience!

And surprisingly, the restaurant was one of the best Icelandic meals I’ve had. They really should promote it more… although, selfishly, I'm not sure I want them to, in case it gets overcrowded! 😂

The food was delicate, beautifully presented, and had very well-balanced flavours. We ordered the scallops, lobster, goose salad, and fish soup, and every single dish was fantastic.

A beautiful hotel, an incredible landscape, and an excellent restaurant—Umi Hotel is definitely a hidden gem.

Cons:

The door entrance to the sauna/yoga room slammed every time someone accessed it. And the rooms nearest to that were affected greatly, especially late at night. Hotel should consider changing the door to silent closing.

A fine place to stay. quiet location and good restaurant.
Pros:

Breakfast was very good and dinner at the restaurant was good. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was very quiet. The room looked out over a grass covered expanse toward the sea, and one morning I awoke to the sound of horses and saw a number of them resting and grazing near the hotel-- very pastoral setting. It was nice to be able to open the window to let in the fresh breeze A great place to stay.

Cons:

The price of the room was quite expensive, but we were committed to these dates so we paid the price.

Für Island gutes Hotel, aber trotzdem viel zu teuer im internationalen Vergleich.
Pros:

Die Lage ist top. Nah am schwarzen Strand, Blick auf den Gletscher. Kurze Fahrzeiten zu einigen der Highlights von Süd-Island.

Cons:

Zimmer sind für 1.000 Euro/Nacht viel zu klein. Minibar/Kühlschrank war leer, lediglich eine Kapsel Kaffee gab es pro Tag inkludiert. Bei dem Preis erwarte ich eher eine Flasche Champagner inklusive. :-)
Die öffentliche Sauna zu klein. Zudem gibt es keine Sauna-Regeln (irgendwelche Amerikaner saßen angezogen in der Sauna!). Die private Sauna (zu zweit) ist dagegen super!
