The Roman family were really kind and helpful. They answered all our questions, and even gave us a coffee demonstration from picking the beans to roasting them. They were also great in arranging a 5:30am ride for one of us to start a hike early one morning.
The grounds are beautiful and the rooms were clean and spacious. I saw an avocado tree on the property and mentioned we liked them so they found one ripe enough to serve with our breakfast.
We're adventure travelers so it was an adventure to us, but the road/bridge are out so you need to cross the river on an arroyo to get to town. It was all part of the experience, but might be scary to some. We returned from the hot springs after dark and were on our own navigating across the river. It's also a ~5-10min trek down from the hacienda to get to the arroyo.
The location was difficult to get to.
Food was just okay, but that may have been do to the difficulty of getting supplies with the road out.
Everything was just a little more expensive than I felt it should be, and it may have been an honest mistake, but they tried to charge us 3x the agreed amount on laundry which left a slight sour note on our stay.
❤️🔥❤️🔥Wooow!!! everything they organized for us on site was stunning, there was no end to the delights! Live cooking, which was the best ceviche I have ever eaten, in addition, a guided trip to the jungle and to the waterfall, and at night, a bonfire by the river!! With star watching!! the next morning, thermal pools and another trip to a viewpoint! They also prepared a special demonstration of coffee and cocoa beans for us, with the preparation process from the bushes to grinding and tasting of freshly ground coffee and cocoa. Me and my friends were delighted, we extended our stay and we will definitely come back!!! That is my favorite place in Peru 🇵🇪❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Huge and comfy beds and high quality linen
All rooms are enormous! So spacious and mine has a view of a glacier! Hot water, very good pressure. Amazing breakfast and great coffee and cocoa from their own plantation!
Great service and lovely family
The hosts were amazing, the room was large, the hot water in the shower were great
The room didn't look like the pic and had a funny smell, it took 30 minutes drive to get there from the city, breakfast was poor
Knowing abut the four kilometer walk to reach Machu Pichu sooner, and that it was far from level. Difficult for an 84 year old woman in excellent condition but for some problems with high altitude. My family would not let me walk back so took train to Ollantaytambo. However, I loved the place and would return if I had the opportunity. Bryan who drove us many places was absolutely incredible.
Everything was beyond excellent, Roman family will help you have a perfect vacation, thank you Alex, Roger, Ana and the rest of the family.
If I had been more aware of the logistical nightmare of getting to this place I probably wouldn't have chosen it, but I treated it like an adventure and gained some great memories and insights from the experience. The hacienda is quite remote, you can't really walk anywhere from here, so expect to pay a taxi if you want to go to any of the nearby towns. I went to the Cocalmayo thermal springs by taxi and felt I was overcharged because I was a foreigner. That being said, the family treated me very well and the property was amazing. Filomena made me the most delicious breakfasts and dinners, and the family's youngest son, Yerson, took me on a guided tour of their plantation and helped navigate the language barrier. They went out of their way to make me feel welcomed and even helped me with a train and ticket to Machu Picchu on short notice. Best coffee of all time grown right on their property. Worth a stay for sure!
The ten hour drive to get there from Cusco was torturous. I didn't like how much I was charged to go places but with no other options I had to take what was offered.
it’s a family-run hacienda in the tranquil valley surrounded by the gorgeous mountains. Abuela Filamena makes good breakfast, with coffee of their own harvest, and fresh fruit from their garden that has papaya, lima, avocado, bananas, coffee, passion fruit, gwanabana; abuelo Agusto serves and cleans, both always smiling.
We saw the coffee cleaning / drying process - the machine is right there, on the landing. amazing.
The natural spring pool is clean and cold.
Cocalmayo Hot Springs are a 20-min taxi ride (50 soles), and they’ll help you get it.
Oh, four cute dogs launch around keeping you safe. we loved it there.
